The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced VDI System Engineer with expertise in Citrix, VMware Horizon, and Windows Server to design, implement, and manage our Citrix/Horizon Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments. The ideal candidate will ensure seamless performance, scalability, and security of our VDI solutions while collaborating with cross-functional IT teams to meet business needs.
Responsibilities:

Design, deploy, and manage Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops and VMware Horizon environments.
Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows Server systems, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
Optimize VDI performance by monitoring resource utilization and implementing best practices for high availability and scalability.
Configure and manage VDI infrastructure components, including hypervisors, virtual machines, and storage.
Ensure the security of VDI environments through access controls, patch management, and endpoint protection solutions.
Automate routine tasks and deployments using scripting languages such as PowerShell.
Support VDI users by diagnosing and resolving technical issues and providing training as needed.
Maintain up-to-date documentation, including system configurations, processes, and procedures.
Collaborate with OPS teams to integrate VDI solutions with existing infrastructure and to implement new technologies.
Stay updated on VDI, Citrix, VMware, and Windows Server technologies to recommend and implement improvements.
Qualifications:
Education & Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Relevant certifications such as Citrix Certified Professional - Virtualization (CCP-V), VMware Certified Professional - Desktop Management (VCP-DTM), and Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate are highly preferred.
Experience:
Minimum 5-10 years of experience managing Citrix, VMware, and Windows Server environments.
Proven expertise in Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (formerly XenApp/XenDesktop) and VMware Horizon solutions.
Hands-on experience with Windows Server administration (2016/2019/2022), including Active Directory, Group Policy, and user management.
Solid understanding of networking concepts, including VLANs, DNS, DHCP, and TCP/IP.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in scripting languages like PowerShell for automation and management.
Experience with virtualization platforms like VMware vSphere or Hyper-V.
Familiarity with storage technologies and their integration with VDI systems (e.g., SAN, NAS).
Soft Skills:
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Skills
Experience with GPU acceleration technologies such as NVIDIA GRID.
Knowledge of cloud-hosted VDI solutions (e.g., Azure Virtual Desktop, Citrix Cloud).
Familiarity with Zero Trust principles and their application in VDI environments.

Pay Range: There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:

$82,100 - 172,400 USD
