The post holder will:
• Research and map the current service from the perspectives of the customer, the service delivery team, and the wider organisation
• Run workshops to solve problems, explore solutions, and formulate ideas
• Design user journeys and other artefacts such as service blueprints
• Facilitate the client's product vision by researching, conceiving, sketching, prototyping and user-testing experiences for digital products.
• Ability to work with clients to understand detailed requirements and design complete user experiences that meet client needs and vision.
• Provide timely accurate reporting
• Make sure that user needs are continuously assessed and brought into prototype development
• Build relationships with clients, and help them learn new skills through mentoring and shadowing
Requirements:
Ideal candidates will demonstrate:
• Degree in design etc. or equivalent in professional experience
• A demonstrable track record of iterating solutions based on user needs; we need someone who can lead discussions to bring groups across different services together
• Experience working with agile methodologies
• Experience of the full UX design process from beginning to end
• Familiarity with the GDS/GOV.UK style guide and service design standards is preferred
• Knowledge of project management methodologies
• Good interpersonal skills - communication skills & a great listener
• Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams
• Self-motivated, able to effectively manage time and workload
• Be able to elicit, distil and visualise complex information so that it is easily understandable
• A team player who can work with others as part of a group to desig shared solutions
• Great persuasive communicator able to influence decision making
• Able to work with clients to understand business requirements, constraints, and underlying needs
• Expertise in using Sketch, Figma, Invision or other similar design and prototyping tools.
• Basic HTML, CSS and JavaScript skills are a plus.
• Knowledge of Government prototyping kit
• Solid understanding of accessibility and industry best practice
• Ability to iterate designs and solutions efficiently and intelligently.

This role will require you to have or be willing to go through Security Clearance. As part of the onboarding process candidates will be asked to complete a Baseline Personnel Security Standard; details of the evidence required to apply may be found on the government website Gov.UK. If you are unable to meet this and any associated criteria, then your employment may be delayed, or rejected . Details of this will be discussed with you at interview.
