The Legal Recruiting team focuses on recruiting law students and lateral attorneys. The Lateral Recruiting Assistant will focus primarily on lateral hiring but will also support the team’s student recruitment and overall efforts.
Key responsibilities and deliverables
Lateral Recruiting
- Track and file incoming lateral associate, counsel, and partner resumes for all US offices, with a focus on New York
- Greet and escort lateral candidates to interviews (or monitor virtual meetings for candidates interviewing via Teams)
- Maintain recruiting databases and lateral recruiting trackers
- Assist with lateral interview scheduling
- With oversight from managers and senior coordinators, correspond with search firms and practice group leaders
- Review and organize the recruiting department email inbox
Student Recruiting
- Schedule callback interviews for summer associate candidates. Distribute interview schedules.
- Greet and escort law student candidates to interviews (or monitor virtual meetings for candidates interviewing via Teams)
- Must be willing to work overtime as requested, especially during the months of May through August
Other Responsibilities
- Provide general support to the US Legal Recruiting team
- Assist with fall associate onboarding and orientation as necessary
- Assist with office tours for summer associates, fall associates, and lateral associates
- Work collaboratively and across the team and other departments of the firm
- Administrative support including arranging conference rooms and catering reservations
- Other responsibilities and special projects as assigned
Key requirements (Communication/skills/experience)
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Possesses the ability to work independently and be proactive
- Strong computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Must be a team player and exercise good judgment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Superior organizational skills and have strong attention to detail.
- Must exhibit a high energy level, be able to work under pressure and have a professional demeanor.
- The ability to preserve confidentiality and exercise discretion
- Able to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines and priorities
For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in New York and California, Freshfields is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range is specific to the States of New York and California and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $60,000 to $65,000.
