Job Responsibilities and Requirements

Performs a variety of more complex underwriting support duties, which may include triaging, rating, and proposing new business for larger, more complex cases, PACS/EIS system set-up, policy related communication, complete renewal preparation, and training and mentoring fellow team members.  Responsible for tracking and reporting on all activities for the renewal block assigned and ensuring renewal packages and notifications are delivered within state regulatory requirements and RSL's established guidelines.

Underwriting Support

  • Ensures that workflows, procedures, and best practices are followed to improve accuracy and efficiency, meeting departmental expectations.

  • Perform assigned tasks related to all aspects of pre-sale and new business rating/quoting and proposing for all business lines.

  • Coordinates the entire Renewal Administration Process from start to finish for assigned RSOs, with emphasis on both timeliness and accuracy.

  • Assists National Accounts underwriters, by researching, pulling experience, etc.

  • Reviews and approves Rate Increase Compensation requests.

  • Handles correspondence with agents, field offices, brokers and policyholders.

  • May be responsible for training and auditing work of fellow team members.

  • May be assigned special projects and other developmental activities as opportunities arise.

  • Any other job-related duty as deemed appropriate by management.

  • Utilize all systems and software including EIS, PACS, Salesforce, Teams, Outlook, Word and Excel.

  • Meets set productivity goals, quality goals and all team metrics. 

  • Update sales tracking system (Salesforce) with all required RFP and Renewal information.

  • Support and aid Supervisors as necessary.

  • Provide back-up coverage for other team members.

  • Attend continuing education as set by the Leadership team.

  • Special office projects, as needed.

  • Attend sales and underwriting meetings, activities as deemed appropriate.

  • Develop and maintain cooperative partnerships with Regional Sales Staff & Home Office Departments.

  • Work closely to ensure effective communication with sales reps, brokers and partners.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Related Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent required. Associates and/or bachelor’s degree highly preferred.

  • A minimum of 2 years employee benefits (or related) experience is required.

  • Product knowledge and strong basic mathematical skills are required.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills required.

  • Professional business demeanor and the ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial capacity with minimal supervision are required.

  • Superior organization and project management skills are required.

  • Proven expertise in managing Excel Spreadsheets – may be required to pass Excel testing.

  • Proficient computer skills required, including Word, Excel, Windows, Outlook, and Teams

  • Ability to develop proficiency regarding required RSL products, systems and processes related to the effective delivery of new business proposals and renewal positions.

  • A deadline/results orientation and extraordinary attention to detail

  • Proven ability to provide a strong customer service experience

The expected hiring range for this position is $24.61 - $30.75 hourly for work performed in the primary location (Philadelphia, PA). This expected hiring range covers only base pay and excludes any other compensation components such as commissions or incentive awards. The successful candidate’s starting base pay will be based on several factors including work location, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Work location may be flexible if approved by the Company.
