The International Miami Department of Everest Reinsurance Company, a member of the Everest Re Group, Ltd., is looking for an Underwriting Assistant II to join our Miami office.  We seek a talented, dynamic, and technical individual to join our treaty team.  This is an excellent opportunity to join our growing, energetic team in a fast-paced environment and contribute to its profitable growth. This position will support our Latin America treaty book's growth, maintenance, and profitability. The position will assist in developing, marketing, soliciting, selecting, sustaining, and underwriting P&C treaty reinsurance throughout the region.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Work collaboratively with underwriters on all aspects of rating and processing business. 
  • Receive business submissions and enter relevant data into systems.
  • Book premium in underwriting systems, issue slips, and process endorsements.
  • Responsible for running internal risk and rating models.
  • Strong adherence to internal and external compliance guidelines and proper documentation in preparation of audits.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all internal underwriting models in collaboration with Pricing Actuaries and Cat Modelers.
  • Help with the upkeep of real-time aggregate accumulations.
  • Support all members of the Miami Treaty Team in collaboration with Underwriters.
  • Promote exceptional service to clients, enhancing our long-term relationships.
  • Collaborate with internal corporate underwriting, claims, accounting, marketing, and operational departments to achieve collective team goals.

Qualifications, Education & Experience:

  • A university degree in insurance, business, or a related field is preferred.
  • Industry-related certifications such as CPCU, ARe, or ACII are encouraged.
  • Ideally, 1 to 3 years of comparable industry experience.
  • Prior experience in treaty underwriting is preferred.
  • Fluent knowledge of Spanish.

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies: 

  • Good communication skills and a collaborative spirit are a must.
  • Requires a detail-oriented mindset, utilizing organizational and multi-tasking skills while balancing priorities.
  • Good research and analytical skills.
  • Comfortable and open to receiving feedback from colleagues and peers.
  • Open to constantly evolving products, systems/programs, and underwriting tools.
  • Must be comfortable working with computers and skilled at Microsoft suite programs: Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
