A Brief Summary of This Position:

The Treasury Operations Intern will work alongside Valmont’s treasury professionals assisting with projects and data analyses, gaining knowledge and experience in domestic and international cash management, implementing bank account governance, maintaining treasury support services, and finding solutions to mitigate risk for the company.  This position will have the opportunity to assist with process improvements and automation in ongoing projects which includes collaboration with Finance and Information Technology departments. 

Valmont’s internship program mission is to enable an emerging workforce to advance the success of Valmont’s global operations. We do this through recruiting and retaining top talent, providing opportunities for professional development through mentorship, and involving them in real-world projects alongside practical coaching.  This internship will provide experience to create, standardize, and maintain the Treasury Operations Center of Excellence.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare reports for ongoing projects, including research of best practices.

  • Update process, policy, and procedure documents.

  • Collaborate with colleagues from various departments in executing project tasks.

  • Focus on process improvement and automation.

  • Work with the Shared Services Team to automate daily AP wires.

Other Important Details about the Role:

  • Assist with implementation of new software and updates needed.

  • Assist in establishing repository and audit process for bank portal users.

  • Assist with global bank relationship management and rationalization efforts.

  • Provide organizational support to the Treasury team.

  • Flexible schedule however must be able to work in the office 3 days per week.

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • Working towards degree in Finance, Banking or Accounting.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

  • Able to accurately maintain records and files, establish priorities, work independently, and meet deadlines, and handle sensitive and confidential materials.

  • Strong analytical and communication (written and verbal) skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail.

Working Environment and Physical Efforts:

Work is typically performed in an office setting.  The incumbent is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, as well as talk and listen on the phone and in personal conversations or meetings.    Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time.  No travel requirements for this position.  The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms while working in the office with various files and forms and while working on the computer.  The employee is occasionally required to move about the office.  Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and positions, keyboard location and height and proper wrists rests. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds in working with large files, binders, and computer equipment.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
