Job Summary

  • The Trainer will be responsible for working directly with all regional leaders and company stakeholders to research, develop and facilitate technical training and technical leadership development. Targeted audiences include regional managers and supervisors as well as front-line employees. This position will work in conjunction with other Trainers and system management in determining the skill levels of employees, and for developing the technical and non-technical from unskilled to highly skilled.


Responsibilities

  • Provides quality internal and external customer service surrounding the Company values. Develops instructor-led and web-based technical operations and technical leadership training curriculum. Designs training curriculum to meet/exceed field safety requirements. Masters and delivers instructor-led curriculum. Creates a stimulating, motivating classroom learning environment to capture and maintain the interest of participants and lead engaging discussions. Tracks training results on a program basis in order to ensure program efficiency, effectiveness and quality. Conducts train-the-trainer workshops. Provides support to regions and their trainers. Works cooperatively and enthusiastically with regional leaders and strategic partners to facilitate and/or coordinate training. Establishes trust, credibility and respect with regional leaders and stakeholders Assists in determining company needs for technical operations supervisory, management and leadership development needs. Works closely with voice operations, engineering, and technical operations to identify training needs and concerns and develop resolvable solutions. Demonstrates procedures being taught, such as installation and repair, applying knowledge of electrical wire color coding, programming, electronics and/or mechanics, using hand tools, measuring instruments, and testing equipment, and following course outline. Observes trainees in a laboratory or hands on environment and addresses questions or other situations as they arise. Administers written or computer-based and practical exams and writes performance reports to evaluate trainees' performance. Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience preferred
  • 2-4 years of progressively responsible training experience integrating learning principles with computer, networking, programming, and Internet experience.
  • 4+ years in the telecommunications industry
  • Supervisory and/or management experience highly preferred
  • Ability to work while standing 25-50% of the time
  • Ability to carry, climb and operate extension ladder, (approx. 28 ft high and 75 pounds)
  • Ability to drive Company vehicle in a safe and responsible manner
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with field operations and engineering theory and troubleshooting of the broadband network
  • Demonstrated ability to design effective curriculum
  • Vision ability: near vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus; acuity required for extensive use of PC, calculator and reference materials; ability to differentiate between different sizes and colors of wires
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and analyze operations reports
  • Demonstrated, excellent classroom facilitation skills and delivery techniques
  • Demonstrated ability to work with all employees at all organizational levels
  • Ability to prioritize and organize effectively
  • Ability to work independently and with others
  • Must be able to present information in a professional and knowledgeable manner
  • Ability to mentor and assist others
  • Ability to travel up to 75%
  • Appropriate valid driver's license and driving record within Company standards
