Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, one of the world’s leading global law firms with offices in strategic hubs of commerce, law, and government across North America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, is seeking to hire a Docketing Supervisor for our Intellectual Property Trademark Support Unit (TMSU). The Docket Supervisor provides docketing assistance to lawyers and paralegals and supervises and oversees the daily workflow of the docket specialists, including responsibility for administration, management, as well as the career progression and professional development of the trademark docket specialists.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervise daily operations of the TMSU docketing staff, including workflow planning and assignments, quality control of work, and coordination of work in the CPI database.

  • Provide leadership including team building and training, and facilitate staff development by providing opportunities and support; provide constructive and timely feedback; regularly coach, evaluate, and recognize staff performance and accomplishments.

  • Work closely with the Senior Manager of Trademark Portfolio Services to identify policy and procedure best practices.

  • Manage and control portfolio operations and maintenance fees.

  • Oversee the routing of all incoming trademark-related documents, maintain docket due dates and remarks in the computerized docket system and provide reporting, monitor actions in the CPI database and verify accuracy, and implement database updates based on changing trademark laws, rules, and procedures.

  • Manage transfer-in and transfer-out records in accordance with firm policy and procedures.

Experience and qualifications:

  • 5 years of docketing experience with a minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience. High school diploma or equivalent is required; post-high school education preferred.

  • Experience with CPI, Workday, MS Office including Excel, Power Point and Outlook.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and superior client service orientation.

  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills and ability to manage and motivate staff and results oriented with time-management and organizational skills to prioritize and assign work and manage projects.

  • Team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills and professional, open-minded approach to working effectively with differing opinions and diverse personalities.

For positions in Washington D.C., the salary range for this job posting is

$98,000.00 - $156,800.00.

The base salary or hourly wage range for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, and market factors.  The final salary or hourly wages offered may be outside of this range based on other reasons and individual circumstances.  Additionally, salary or hourly wages may be only part of the total compensation package. The total compensation package for this position may also include a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.  If hired, the employee will be in an "at-will position" and the firm reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, firm or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
