About the Role

Wirecutter is seeking an organized and process-oriented testing logistics assistant to support our newsroom-wide testing efforts at our office in Long Island City. Testing Logistics is the behind-the-scenes team that makes our rigorous product testing possible, and our journalists’ work more efficient.  

You will contribute directly to our testing by ensuring products are catalogued and available when needed. You’ll also support setting up and breaking down testing setups, and coordinating with our writers and editors on daily logistics. 

You will report to our testing logistics manager and join a small but mighty team responsible for ensuring the testing that’s so core to our journalism is seamless. This is an in-person role based in Wirecutter's Long Island City office. 

Responsibilities:

  • Order products and supplies for onsite and remote testing

  • Track product shipments from order to delivery

  • Receive, open, catalogue, and distribute incoming products at our LIC office

  • Support remote teams with tracking shipments and logging products into our inventory database

  • Maintain our inventory tracking system, ensuring our writers always know how to find a product

  • Collaborate with journalists, editors, photographers, and other teams to package and ship products 

  • Support testing set up and break down, ensuring all necessary supplies are available

  • Coordinate product transfers between our LIC office and external storage facilities, and/ or donation sites 

  • Support inventory audits and database reconciliation

  • Perform related work as assigned

  • Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of professional or academic experience in product testing, inventory management, or project management-based role

  • 1+ years of experience working simultaneously with in-person and remote teams

  • Ability to lift and carry, or otherwise move heavy items

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience working with Google Workspace. Familiarity with Airtable, Slack, Zapier, Confluence, Miro

The annual base pay range for this role is between $60,000.00 and $70,000.00.
