What you will work on

At FERNRIDE, we call the team that provides most of the services and infrastructure as well as verification efforts, the Engineering and Verification Ecosystems (EVE) team. As the foundation of Fernride engineering, the EVE team is poised to build the most productive engineering team in the world with an engineering system that scales, rock-solid cloud platforms and world-class verification. From source management to deploying to individual vehicles roaming around different yards, from distributed building/testing to orchestrating container-based integration tests in the cloud, from customizing and installing OSs and firmware to building CLI and web services and applications, we have it all covered.

We are seeking a proactive Test Execution Associate/Engineer (f/d/m) to join our team, responsible for executing test activities on our test vehicles at various locations. The ideal candidate will have an engineering background and hold a C-driver license, along with experience operating heavy machinery or trucks. Alternatively, candidates with a B-driver German license and a strong willingness to be trained on the job are also strongly encouraged to apply. This role involves operating our test trucks as both a safety driver and a tele-operator, providing a hands-on opportunity to contribute to our innovative testing processes - which, therefore, implies daily on-site presence in our test location(s). This role may also involve physical work, including maneuvering and setting up test infrastructure, which could include handling weights up to 15 kg.

How you will leave your footprint

  • Supporting the test engineering team in conducting regular test activities across multiple locations, ensuring all procedures are followed accurately.
  • Operating our test trucks as a safety driver, ensuring compliance with safety standards and protocols during all testing activities.
  • Engaging in remote operation of test vehicles, utilizing tele-operations for specific testing scenarios while maintaining clear communication with the team.
  • Actively contributing to team discussions and testing strategies, fostering a hands-on approach to problem-solving and innovation in vehicle testing.
  • Providing clear communication on a regular basis with the team about test progress, anomalies, risks, and related matters

What you will bring to the team

  • B-driver German license is mandatory - C-driver German license is a plus
  • Willingness to operate the test vehicles and be responsible for test execution activities
  • Strong English communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a diverse and distributed team - German is a plus
  • Experience with computers and productivity tools (Microsoft Office or Google Suite) - experience with other tools like Jira and Slack are a plus
  • Tech-savvy and interested in technology in general
  • Capability and experience to support the build-up of test infrastructure is a plus  - skills in 3D printing, operating machinery and tools, and overall fabrication expertise.
