Job Description
As Manager of the Avaloq Test Automation team, you will be part of a group of highly skilled, motivated and dynamic individuals responsible for a core part of the Avaloq banking suite. You will be leading the team responsible for test automation and innovation for the Avaloq solution used by banks in the Swiss market.
Having practical experience, strategic thinking and strong collaboration skills to promote continuous improvement and excellence in project quality assurance, your goals and activities will be the following.
- Strive to enhance the software development lifecycle by improving the quality of requirements and minimizing time and effort during the design, development, and integration stages.
- Identify and implement measures to accelerate test execution, eliminate redundancies, and improve reliability.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the efficiency of automation and the impact on quality improvements.
- Collaborate closely with development, QA, and other teams to seamlessly integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines, optimizing the testing workflow.
- Set clear priorities aligned with the company's vision and objectives for advancing test automation.
- Supervise manual and automated testing efforts, creating and executing comprehensive testing strategies, plans, and schedules to ensure effective delivery.
- Ensure adherence to best practices in design, development, and integration.
- Manage the team as a shared service supporting multiple projects. Provide testing effort estimates, participate in estimation reviews, and oversee the management of test environments for various testing needs.
- Report testing metrics, including defect containment, test coverage, execution progress and automation ROI, to enable informed decision-making.
- Drive recruitment efforts to attract top talent and maintain a highly skilled and effective engineering team.
- Lead and mentor the team by setting strategic goals, tracking progress, and fostering professional growth and development.
- Ensure the team is equipped with the necessary tools, skills, and training to meet project requirements.
- Participate in selecting, implementing, and maintaining the test automation tool suite.
- Stay informed about emerging automation tools and technologies, identifying the best-fit solutions for the organization. Conduct proof-of-concepts (POCs) for new tools and technologies as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Must have 5+ years of work experience in the banking or fintech domain, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor diverse teams of testers, developers, and engineers.
- Capacity to set clear goals, delegate tasks, and monitor progress effectively.
- Expertise in managing testing timelines, budgets, and resources.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools like Jira or Confluence.
- Skill in defining test automation strategies aligned with organizational goals.
- Experience prioritizing testing initiatives based on risk, value, and feasibility.
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills to work with cross-functional teams, clients, and stakeholders.
- Ability to present technical findings in a clear and actionable manner.
- Analytical thinking to diagnose issues and propose efficient solutions.
- Flexibility to adapt to rapidly changing banking technologies and compliance requirements.
- A meticulous approach to ensure precision and accuracy in testing processes.
- Keen interest in banking and/or wealth management business
- Very good communication skills (proficient in English verbally and in writing)
You will get extra points for the following.
- Proven experience on manual or automated testing
- Experience with Accenture’s TestMaster and/or Avaloq Banking System is/are a BIG plus
- Experience in automation tools like Cypress, Appium, Jest
- Experience with Performance testing tool (Gatlin, LoadRunner, JMeter)
- Experience with Angular, NgRx, RxJs operators, TypeScript
- Experience with JavaEE, Spring Boot
- ISTQB certification
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or equivalent Agile certifications.
- Relevant certifications in banking technology or financial systems (e.g., CBAP, CFA).
- Demonstrated success in implementing test automation solutions that reduced time-to-market and enhanced system reliability.
