As a Territory Account Manager for the Baden-Württemberg region, you’ll combine your technical skills in life sciences with commercial expertise to drive sales objectives in line with Illumina’s mission. Your role will center on cultivating relationships with both new and existing customers, establishing yourself as a trusted partner and a key player within our Commercial business.
This is a field-based role, requiring residency in Baden-Württemberg. You must hold a valid driving license and be willing to travel extensively within the region. Fluent German and English language skills are essential.

As our Territory Account Manager, you bring professional sales skills and strategic insight to develop and grow key accounts through effective networking at all levels of the customer organization. You’re skilled in converting leads into closed deals and building a strong sales pipeline.
Preferred Background and Skills
- Build high-value, long-term customer accounts through relationship-based sales.
- Identify and manage genetic analysis sales opportunities using professional screening methods and available resources.
- Develop comprehensive understanding of customer organizations, including budgeting, competition, products, and internal politics.
- Prepare and deliver compelling customer sales presentations, provide demonstrations, training, and ongoing support.
- Negotiate genetic analysis sales in the territory and prepare corresponding contracts and quotations.
- Maintain target profit margins through effective negotiation.
- Coordinate and communicate sales activities and strategies to supervisors.
- Maintain detailed account and contact records within Illumina’s CRM database to monitor and drive customer purchasing behavior.
- Use the CRM system to expand sales within existing customer accounts and increase customer base within the assigned region.
- Provide accurate and timely sales forecast updates.
- Develop a territory business plan to achieve sales goals as set by management.
- Build and manage a strong short-, medium-, and long-term sales pipeline of leads, prospects, and opportunities.
- Complete all product and technology training requirements.
Role Requirements
- Some experience in territory or account management.
- Demonstrated experience in Life Science or Diagnostics sales.
- Proven track record of managing high-value, complex sales cycles.
- Strong technical background in molecular biology or genomics.
- Strategic sales skills with an ability to develop and grow accounts across customer organizations.
- Excellent negotiation, time management, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledgeable in the industry, with an ability to understand client objectives and challenges.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software.
- Willingness to travel extensively for client meetings and industry events.
- Strong problem-solving skills and strategic thinking abilities.
- Proven ability to meet and exceed sales targets.
- BA/BS, MS, or equivalent degree in Life Sciences.
- Fluency in German and English is essential.
