Role Overview:
Methods is currently recruiting for a Technology Lead roleto join our team on a permanent basis – This role will be on-site 5 day’s per week.
We are seeking a Core Technical Leader (CTL) to provide strategic and hands-on technical leadership for a complex and high-profile Azure Stack Hub (ASH) and Private Cloud programme. As the senior-most technical authority, the CTL will be responsible for shaping and guiding the programme’s technology vision, driving innovation, ensuring architectural integrity, and delivering robust, secure, and scalable solutions.
This role is designed to reflect the responsibilities typically held by a CTO, adapted to fit within internal structures. The CTL will play a pivotal role in aligning technical direction with programme goals, championing best practices, and fostering a high-performance engineering culture across hybrid environments.
I. Core Technical Leadership & Strategy
- Define and communicate the programme’s technical vision, aligned with overall business and mission objectives.
- Develop and execute strategic technology roadmaps focused on hybrid and private cloud environments.
- Lead technical governance by establishing and enforcing standards, policies, and architectural frameworks.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks, with contingency and disaster recovery plans.
- Drive innovation through technology scouting and by cultivating a forward-thinking technical culture.
- Manage the technical budget, ensuring cost-effective technology investments.
II. Deep Technical Expertise (ASH & Private Cloud Focus)
- Lead design and deployment of Azure Stack Hub (ASH) infrastructure, ensuring performance, scalability, and resilience.
- Enable core services (IaaS, PaaS) on ASH with secure identity management and hybrid connectivity.
- Oversee operational aspects including patching, monitoring, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
- Guide the design, configuration, and management of virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V), storage solutions, networking, and compute infrastructure in private cloud environments.
- Champion automation, orchestration, and Infrastructure-as-Code practices across the delivery lifecycle.
III. Complex Technology Landscape Management
- Lead integration efforts across ASH, private cloud, and legacy/on-premise systems, addressing interoperability and migration challenges.
- Implement robust security practices and API management strategies across multi-cloud and hybrid stacks.
- Navigate complex, regulated environments with a deep understanding of data sovereignty, latency needs, and disconnected operations.
IV. Leadership & Management
- Inspire and lead high-performing technical teams, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
- Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders and senior leadership.
- Empower team members, delegate effectively, and make timely, informed decisions under pressure.
- Manage vendor relationships and contribute to agile programme delivery processes (Scrum, Kanban, etc.).

Key Considerations for the Programme
- Deep understanding of the specific use cases and constraints driving ASH deployment (e.g., data sovereignty, disconnected environments).
- Familiarity with the exact private cloud stack and related vendor technologies.
- Ability to operate effectively within a highly integrated, regulated, and security-sensitive environment.
This role will require you to have Security Clearance & be eligible and willing for Developed Vetting.
