Position Description

We are looking for candidates who are passionate about creating easy-to-use product software documentation for both technical and non-technical users. In this role, you will write documentation for accessibility testing software for mobile apps. The role includes documenting technical software (which may not have a graphical user interface) for app developers. It also includes writing step-by-step instructions for non-technical audiences who use a UI-based version of our testing tools. Lastly, it includes writing educational content to help users understand accessibility guidelines and accessibility test results.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Write and maintain detailed technical documentation for developers explaining how to implement and use API-based accessibility testing software for their mobile apps.
  • Write and maintain end-user documentation for non-technical testers explaining how to install and use UI-based accessibility testing tools for their mobile apps.
  • Write release notes for product releases
  • Work with product owners and developers to produce and explain code samples, API documentation, development workflows, and other technical content.
  • Work with accessibility experts to incorporate accessibility information into documentation, including easy-to-understand explanations of accessibility findings and detailed remediation advice, including code samples.
  • Contribute to the information architecture and customer-facing messaging related to product documentation.
  • Work with training instructors to ensure customers have appropriate documentation to be successful in using accessibility testing software products.

Requirements

  • Technical experience:
    • Experience writing markdown and HTML
    • Experience using code repository tools, such as GitHub, to commit changes and create pull requests
    • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of technical concepts to documentation writing, such as:
      • Modern app development languages, such as native app development with Swift and Kotlin, cross-platform app development with React Native, Flutter, or .NET MAUI, and hybrid app development utilizing webviews
      • Automated app testing technologies such as Espresso, XCUITest and Appium
      • Modern data formats, such as JSON
    • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of accessibility concepts to documentation writing, such as Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
  • Technical writing experience:
    • 2-3 years of experience with writing and maintaining user documentation for developer-focused software products
    • Knowledge of technical writing standards
  • General:
    • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong ability to learn new technologies quickly
  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s Degree
