Technical Writer Intern
Position details
Office Location: 101 Europa Dr. Ste 110, Chapel Hill, NC 27517
Working arrangement: Hybrid (2-3x's a week in our Chapel Hill office)
Hours: Monday-Friday 9AM – 6PM
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Duration of internship: 12 weeks
Internship Summary
As an intern on our Technical Writing team, you will work alongside experienced writers, engineers, and product managers to improve and maintain technical documentation. Your contributions will help developers, IT professionals, and business users understand and utilize CData’s products effectively.
Daily Responsibilities
- Write, edit, and maintain user guides for our suite of CData drivers.
- Work closely with other technical writers to translate complex technical concepts into clear and concise documentation.
- Review and improve existing documentation for clarity, accuracy, and consistency.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to documentation strategy discussions.
- Gain hands-on experience using AI to contribute to comprehensive user documentation.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Technical Writing, Computer Science, Information Technology, Communications, or a related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to simplify complex technical concepts for a broad audience.
- Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
- Basic understanding of APIs, databases, or software development concepts.
- Experience with Markdown, HTML, or documentation tools such as Confluence is a plus.
