Job Description
To support the installation, maintenance and performance management of the z/OS operating system and related vendor products and support application staff. Support other infrastructure teams ie (CICS/DB2/Storage management/ADABAS). Provide guidance as required to the architecture and design teams.
- Perform deployment work for projects on demand and in accordance with project schedules.
- With respect to Z/OS applications:.
- Deploy fixes/PTF’s, refreshes, and upgrades in accordance with related deployment and release schedules.
- Define hardware to the z/OS operating system
- Ensure systems perform optimally by monitoring performance and make recommendations to the capacity management team.

- Perform DR exercises as directed by the BCM regime.
- Resolve incidents and problems and escalate 3rd level support requirements to 3rd party support contractor(s) and coordinate support provision. Service restore shall satisfy service level agreements.
- Maintain run books for Z/OS operations utilising deployment- and maintenance guides directives originating from Products & Services.
- Interact with Products & Services/Architecture to optimise and maintain Z/OS infrastructure and operations service levels at a level that fully endorse GTI’s service level agreements with its customers.
- Support Operational Controls processes (Audits, Risk and DR& BCM governance, business processes improvements, performance management, and finance and business management), supply requested information and implement corrective actions as applicable.
Qualifications
Type of Qualification: First Degree
Field of Study: Information Technology
- A qualification in project management (Prince II or PMIBOK or similar) or one or preferably more of the infrastructure technologies deployed across mainframe infrastructure footprints.

Be familiar with systems and configuration management tools (e.g. Chef and Terraform). Experience in Continuous Integration or Continuous Delivery processes in engineering teams, integrating test automation into various points in a deployment pipeline and prior programming background in at least one or more languages: C, C++, Java, Perl, Python, Go, or scripting experience in Shell and Perl.
3-4 years
Experience gained in using production systems and technologies, for example load balancing, monitoring, distributed systems, microservices, and configuration management. Designing and executing small scale systems automation projects with strong autonomy. Be familiar with software engineering best practices such as testing, continuous integration and continuous delivery Experience in monitoring and metrics collection tools such as AppDynamics, Prometheus, Nagios and Graphite.
