You will work alongside Partners across the M&A, Low Carbon Economy, and Corporate Sustainability teams in building ERM’s position as a leading transaction and sustainability advisor for the finance sector and infrastructure investors. You will have significant experience in the energy, finance and/or the infrastructure sectors with proven experience leading due diligence assignments that capture an understanding of technical, commercial, and economic drivers of M&A deals.

We are looking for an established leader with strong private equity infrastructure relationships who combines strong consulting and business development skills, a solid technical foundation and a track record of leading high-performing teams to sell and deliver world-class services and outcomes. The primary responsibilities for this role will be to:

  • Foster, expand and leverage a network of excellent client relationships with a focused set of financial sector organizations (consistent with our growth strategy and trajectory).
  • To drive the continued growth of ERM’s business through recruiting and developing our next generation of leaders.
  • To further advance our reputation for supporting the highest profile M&A deals.

Role Responsibilities

Building long-term client relationships – You are expected to engage closely with infrastructure investor clients (and portfolio companies) to understand their needs and share insights/ thought leadership from across ERM. You will play a key role in identifying, originating, and securing M&A Advisory opportunities in the infrastructure sector. You will work closely with other Partners to originate, develop, and secure advisory opportunities to support such clients as they seek to shape their net-zero transition. The expectations will be to support the growth of a specific list of finance and infrastructure investor clients to convert them into the Key Client group for ERM Group.

Shaping and leading advisory assignments – You will be central to shaping the future direction of sustainability and due diligence services to infrastructure investors. Through your close interaction with infrastructure investors, you will develop and execute novel ways in which we innovate and tailor advice to meet the changing needs of infrastructure investors. You will be expected to draw upon the broad experience of the ERM organization globally to provide the highest quality of advice to clients. You will take senior-level accountability for the development and management of scope and budget for project assignments.

Inspiring leadership – You will play a key role in shaping the current and future direction of the team through inspiring leadership, mentoring and collaboration. You will take responsibility for guiding and coaching junior team members and work closely in identifying skills gaps to be fulfilled through future team development.

ROLE PROFILE

You will be an experienced leader with deep infrastructure investor client relationships and significant experience undertaking M&A advisory and due diligence services.

  • Proven Business Development acumen with leading organizations in the infrastructure and energy sectors.
  • Track record of technical, commercial, and regulatory deal advice across the sector.
  • Experience overseeing the delivery of Technical due diligence assignments
  • Broad understanding of global energy (and energy-intensive) market and macroeconomic outlooks.
  • Develop new client relationships and expand existing relationships by delivering strategic consulting advice, excellent value, and quality service.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of industry business cycles and prioritize sales efforts toward high-potential, top opportunities.
  • Actively develop commercial strategies to pursue and win new business opportunities that result in significant growth with ERM’s target Finance Sector clients. 
  • Build, grow, and manage a high-performance team, serving as a leader and mentor to consultants. 
  • Meet business health & safety performance standards, financial targets, overall project budgets and schedules, client satisfaction/expectations, internal risk management and contractual requirements.
  • Additional language skills valuable.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering, business operations, sustainability or related field.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in either a consulting environment or working substantially with the energy and/or infrastructure sectors, including experience in the industry’s need to meet the world’s Low Carbon Economy Transition goals.
  • Recognized technical expertise and an established reputation in the local marketplace.

  • Able to have strategic discussions with business leaders and a proven track record of helping clients realize their ambitious low carbon goals through the implementation of low carbon economy transition infrastructure.
  • An innovative and creative mindset capable of influencing and delivering change is desirable.
  • From time to time, travel to client locations and other ERM offices may be required.

For the Partner, Technical and Infrastructure Due Diligence (Director Level) position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $150,000 – $165,000 (USD).  An employee’s pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.  We also may have instances where employee’s fall outside of the range based on the factors noted above. This job may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/flex force employees are NOT bonus eligible).
