We are hiring a Technical Manager with expertise in Data Engineering or Cloud to lead and manage multi-disciplinary teams embedded within our customer's environment. This is a leadership-focused role that requires a strong technical background in AWS to drive best practices, operational excellence, and high-performance delivery.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading distributed teams, ensuring alignment with customer objectives, and fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
Please note that you will be required to attend our customer's office in Dublin 1-2 days a week.
Required skills:
- Proven experience leading and managing multi-disciplinary teams (onshore and offshore)
- Strong technical background in AWS cloud services (e.g. EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, Glue, Redshift, IAM)
- Experience with data engineering technologies (e.g. Snowflake, Tableau, Kafka, Spark) or cloud infrastructure (e.g. Kubernetes, Terraform, Docker)
- Solid understanding of Agile and DevOps methodologies (e.g. Scrum, Kanban, CI/CD pipelines using GitLab, Jenkins, or AWS-native tools)
- Experience implementing cloud security, governance and compliance frameworks
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence, negotiate and build trust
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment
Key responsibilities & duties include:
Leadership and Team Management
- Lead and mentor multi-disciplinary, geographically distributed technical teams, fostering collaboration and innovation across remote and in-person environments
- Utilize collaboration tools (e.g., Slack, Zoom, Microsoft Teams) to ensure team cohesion, engagement, and productivity in hybrid work settings
- Build team capabilities and ensure alignment with project objectives and customer requirements
- Manage performance, set clear objectives, and track progress using key metrics
- Act as a key point of contact for customer-deployed teams, ensuring alignment with client goals
Operational Excellence
- Develop and oversee operational processes tailored for customer-deployed teams
- Ensure seamless integration of customer-deployed teams with internal operations
- Establish SLAs and manage adherence to customer-specific requirements
Customer and Stakeholder Management
- Build strong relationships with customer stakeholders to anticipate and address evolving business needs
- Provide regular updates on team performance, addressing customer feedback proactively
- Act as an escalation point for teams, resolving technical and operational challenges proactively
Technical Oversight
- Collaborate with technical leads to ensure delivery excellence across cloud operations, software development, and automation projects
- Oversee the application of best practices for cloud security, governance, and compliance in customer environments including containerization, serverless computing, and edge technologies
- Champion the adoption of innovative technologies such as AI/ML to meet customer and business objectives
- Drive the adoption of Agile, DevOps and CI/CD methodologies to enhance delivery speed and reliability
Strategic Alignment
- Partner with senior leadership to align team objectives with business goals
- Contribute to strategic planning for scaling technical operations and team structures
Desirable Skills:
- Experience working in customer-embedded teams, or managing technical delivery in a client environment
- Familiarity with AI/ML, analytics, or real-time data processing solutions
- Experience with observability and monitoring tools (e.g. Datadog, CloudWatch, Splunk)
- Strong background in automation and Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g. Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible)
