SMX is seeking a Computer Systems Analyst, Journeyman with knowledge of Radio Over IP (ROIP) RF technologies and the configuration, integration and administration of RF systems. This position will support various contracts and work assignments under the SMX Global Defense Business Unit with a large variety of networking designs and implementation of communication systems programs. The Candidate will work with projects including legacy, current and next generation telecommunication, and related communications-electronics (C-E) systems. To provide Engineering and Life Cycle Sustainment support on various DoD IT systems and infrastructure components and must be knowledgeable of both wired and wireless network devices such as [but not limited to] network switches and routers, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and encryption devices. The candidate will focus technology acumen on IT and IS systems engineering efforts and assist with implementation and integration efforts for both legacy and current state of the art technology supporting various Department of Defense (DoD) entities. The candidate will follow the guidance of designated team lead(s) to ensure team cohesion and mission success. This position may require a non-standard work schedule and frequent travel. Position requires 25% travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations to perform system integration and sustainment support efforts for IT systems.
This position requires a DoD secret security clearance which requires US citizenship for work on DoD contracts.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- The candidate will provide system administration and technical expertise support to include administration, documentation, provision of resources, maintenance of OS patches and releases for platform applications such as Radio Over IP (ROIP) systems, and SATCOM tactical systems, Motorola, Harris and Persistent Systems
- The candidate will provide system administration and technical expertise support to various network routers, switches and wireless devices to include Cisco IOS, Cradle point, Aruba Networks and Android devices software and Hardware
- Candidate will perform tasks including (but not limited to):
- monitoring system and task status
- data storage, retention and retrieval
- review and audit of system functions of data communication networks
- perform immediate troubleshooting as the situation dictates for all network outages as reported by users, sensors, and/or operational personnel
- configure, install and replace network gear as needed
- Candidate will perform software installation; assist with network system design, and troubleshooting
- Candidate may assist with technical documentation, network diagrams, inventory control documentation, and security documentation
- Additionally, the candidate will support and assist with field testing and system training events
Required Skills & Experience
- Clearance Required: Secret
- Bachelor’s degree with 3-5 years of related experience in RF field
- SUBSTITUTIONS: An associate’s degree and 7 years of experience; 9 years of experience in lieu of a degree
- Security+ certification
- Basic understanding of C4I systems
- Knowledge of Windows operating environments
- Knowledge of Cisco network equipment to include routing and switching
- Wide Area Network infrastructure
- Knowledge of Internet Protocol routing and troubleshooting of Microsoft operating systems and computer devices
- Ability to troubleshoot, install, and maintain mobile C4I and related electronic communication systems and associated equipment
Desired Skills & Experience
- Experience in designing and implementing computer and information networks, such as LAN, WAN, intranets, extranets, and other data communications network Understanding of computer security measures and implementation of IT networks and IS computer systems
- Knowledgeable in RF wave propagation and SATCOM Link Budgets
- Experience and understanding of Persistent Systems, Motorola, Harris and HF radio communications implementation and administration for Systems Engineering, integration and configurations

$71,200—$118,700 USD
