Job Summary:
RCM&D is currently searching for a Team Leader in our Core Department. The successful candidate will provide leadership support, ensuring service standards and sales objectives are met. This role requires professionalism, strong client management skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with agency personnel and carrier partners.
A Day in the Life:
- Create and maintain an unforgettable client experience.
- Work with new and existing clients to gather underwriting information.
- Conduct research and preparation for new business and renewal meetings.
- Secure necessary markets for quoting new and renewal business.
- Prepare and present new and renewal accounts, including applications, loss runs, driver lists, vehicle schedules, and supplemental applications.
- Provide underwriters with the necessary information to assess accounts.
- Follow up with underwriting to ensure deadlines are met.
- Negotiate pricing with carriers as needed.
- Track and complete service initiatives as established by leadership.
- Develop and execute sales strategies independently or with Risk Advisors.
- Meet with clients for new, pre-renewal, and renewal presentations and assist in negotiating the sale.
- Coordinate Loss Control visits with clients as necessary.
- Research and resolve client issues related to policies, coverage, or claims.
- Conduct client contract reviews for insurance requirements.
- Assist with mid-term, complex client changes such as acquisitions, sales, or operational expansions.
- Manage earned premiums, audit premiums, and resolve accounting, operational, or claims issues.
Leadership & Team Management:
- Assist Human Resources and leadership in candidate interviews, onboarding, and training for new employees.
- Conduct annual performance reviews and provide quarterly feedback.
- Document performance conversations, including disciplinary actions, and develop performance improvement plans as necessary.
- Review and approve employee FTO and SSL requests, ensuring adequate team coverage.
- Approve expense accounts.
- Participate in Team Lead training and Quality Management meetings.
- Review, evaluate, and implement workflow improvements.
- Oversee and lead department meetings, ensuring clear communication and collaboration.
- Coordinate and deliver content for Commercial Lines Division meetings.
Carrier & Industry Engagement:
- Attend meetings with new and existing carrier partners.
- Participate in annual carrier planning meetings as relevant.
- Review carrier production results and align with department growth objectives.
- Research carrier coverage options and understand carrier appetites.
- Attend carrier events, product fairs, and company-hosted functions.
- Maintain knowledge of underwriting criteria for represented carriers.
- Stay up to date on industry developments through seminars and training.
- Utilize and optimize automated agency systems.
- Engage in special projects as needed.
What You'll Need:
- Education & Experience:
- At least 5 years of Commercial Lines account executive experience.
- Experience managing a team of 2 or more individuals preferred.
- Strong knowledge of commercial lines insurance, coverage, and rating.
- Active MD resident or non-resident Property & Casualty License.
- Skills & Abilities:
- Assertive self-starter with strong communication skills.
- Ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
- Attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to changing priorities.
- Willingness to travel as required.
- Ability to work from multiple RCM&D offices (Hunt Valley, Baltimore & Owings Mills).
- Preferred but Not Required:
- College education.
- Interest in pursuing professional insurance designations (CPCU, CIC, CRM, CRIS).
- Experience with Applied EPIC.
