Your role as a Team Lead, Software Developer
As a Team Lead, Software Developer you will be at the forefront of shaping new developments for organizations who want to offer Dialogue’s services to their members. Reporting directly to the Director of Software Engineering for Client Stream, you will lead your team in designing and developing seamless, high-quality mobile and web experiences, working closely with Product Managers and User Experience Designers to bring intuitive solutions to life. Within the Client Stream team, you will drive the development of complex workflows that seamlessly integrate the Member application and the Care Platform, directly improving the quality of life for millions—from the moment they gain access to Dialogue until their health concerns are resolved.
Your leadership will foster a collaborative and high-performing team, where innovation, efficiency and engineering excellence are at the core. Working closely and proactively with all cross-functional teams, you will uphold high-quality standards, ensuring that development cycles are fast, efficient and reliable.In addition to leading your team, you will work with a multi-disciplinary group to develop new workflows for client organizations enhancing their members' experience. Your technical expertise will be essential in proposing, evaluating and ensuring that solutions are successfully implemented.While leadership is a crucial aspect of this role, you will also remain hands-on in the code, contributing directly to technical decisions, code quality and team success. You will help shape a strong engineering culture that values best practices, thorough code reviews and continuous improvement.
What you’ll be doing:
- Writing and supporting high quality code across multiple applications and systems
- Be an inspiring people manager for your high-performing scrum team
- Understand the experience of end-user problems as defined by the product manager, designer and the external client and propose technical solutions that promote a 5-star member experience
- Strategically break down objectives into milestones in a traditional scrum team that delivers solutions and user journeys incrementally
- Facilitate strong collaboration within a cross-functional environment for your team that often works in repositories and applications owned by other scrum teams
- Draft and review technical design documents and present them to the collaborative architecture group
- Design secure and cost-effective solutions, working within a global tech stack, with Infrastructure as Code in AWS (Terraform)
- Ability to manage technical debt while delivering features and investing in sustaining engineering to sustain fast pull request cycle times and encouraging best software development practices
- Lead a team while improving your own technical skills and those of other team members and ensure the team’s success in meeting sprint goals
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
- Relevant professional experience including leading teams
- Ability to adapt quickly to new systems and technologies
- A desire for continuous learning and healthy curiosity!
- Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks such as React, React Native, Expo or Node
- Proficiency in Python, PostgreSQL and AWS services is important
- A B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in computer science or a related technical field is a plus
- Experience interacting with external clients is a plus
- A burning desire to make an impact while having fun solving complex challenges with your teammates!
Please note that as we serve customers across Canada, bilingualism is essential for this position. You may be required to communicate in French and English.
