Work Arrangement
This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Austin (TX) or Warren (MI) three times per week, at minimum.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic leader to lead a team of program managers focused on designing, developing, and executing early career programs at GM. In this role, you will manage and mentor a team responsible for creating impactful programs that attract , retain, and develop top talent in the early stages of their careers. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership and organizational skills, an in-depth understanding of talent development, and the ability to drive innovation and continuous improvement in early career initiatives.
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead & Develop Team : Manage a team of program managers who are responsible for executing early career development programs. Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to ensure the team's success and growth.


  • Program Strategy & Execution : Collaborate with senior leadership to design and implement strategies for early career talent programs that align with organizational goals. Ensure programs are executed efficiently, meet KPIs, and deliver exceptional value to participants and the organization.


  • Stakeholder Engagement : Work closely with internal departments to ensure seamless coordination and alignment across various initiatives.


  • Program Innovation : Continuously evaluate and improve the effectiveness of current programs. Incorporate feedback from program participants and stakeholders to refine and innovate new program offerings.


  • Data-Driven Decision Making : Analyze program performance through data, metrics, and feedback to identify areas for improvement. Provide regular reports on program outcomes and progress to leadership.


  • Talent Development : Foster a culture of learning and development within the early career programs. Support the growth and advancement of participants by creating pathways for continued development and potential future leadership roles.


  • Diversity & Inclusion : Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives within early career programs to ensure that programs are accessible and inclusive to all talent pools.


Additional Description
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in program management, with at least 1 year in a leadership/team management role, with a focus on early career programs (intern and co-ops).
  • Proven experience designing and implementing early career programs (intern and co-op).
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team, develop talent, and build a high-performing culture.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to think strategically while also managing day-to-day operational tasks effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and multitasking skills.
  • Experience with data analysis and using insights to improve programs.
  • A passion for fostering diverse and inclusive environments and a commitment to supporting early career professionals.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within a corporate or large organizational setting.
  • Prior experience managing a dispersed team.
