Position Summary:
The Team Lead, Commercial Risk acts as a catalyst towards growth and continuous improvement by strengthening team synergy through common support of ideas to ensure all goals are met in a conducive and collaborative environment. The Team Lead, Commercial Risk will drive the delivery of complex insurance architecture design for larger clients and prospective clients including the development of complex marketing strategies, sophisticated risk mapping, market applications, ultimate client proposal/presentation, and seamless transition to the service team.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Creates, establishes and manages workflows, processes and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Understands how team profitability is determined through best practices, interpreting reports, and knowledge of team financials.
- Keeps colleagues up-to-date on decisions, changes, and other relevant information, and articulates reason behind the decisions
- Creates an environment for open feedback through effective communication and regular meetings to address concerns regarding new requirements.
- Evaluates colleague performance by providing objective and timely feedback on an ongoing informal basis; conducts annual performance evaluations incorporating 360 feedback.
- Coaches, mentors, and trains team colleagues on a continuous basis.
- Assists in establishing and maintaining appropriate commercial carrier relationships.
- Prepares risk maps or peer reviewing risk maps for assigned accounts.
- Coordinates service delivery including developing initial placement/renewal strategy.
- When requested, serves as a mentor to new colleagues.
Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities Requirements:
- Obtain and maintain a Property and Casualty license or other state insurance license(s), as required by the State Department of Insurance to provide risk management consulting or risk transfer solutions as necessary in states where the firm functions (or be willing and able to obtain all required licenses within the first 90 days of employment). A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Must possess at least ten years’ experience in Commercial Account Management and maintains all licenses.
- Possesses strong technical knowledge of general insurance market conditions and specific insurance carrier underwriting appetites.
- Can analyze complex risk exposures, existing insurance coverages and develop appropriate recommendations for clients and prospects.
- Develops effective strategy and tactics to create positive motivation for team colleagues to achieve vision.
- Demonstrates effective presentation skills through verbal and written communications.
- Exhibits excellent client service and problem-solving skills.
- Can comfortably work in a collaborative manner with a team of professionals from CRMG and other business segments.
- Possesses intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook and the ability to learn any other appropriate insurance company and firm software programs.
- Demonstrates the organization’s core values, exuding behavior that is aligned with corporate culture.

- Fast paced, multi-tasking environment.
- Some travel may be required.
