WORK TYPE: Onsite

LOCATION DETAILS: 14460 Varsity Brands Way, Farmers Branch, TX 75244; Monday-Thursday in office, Friday is flex day

WORK HOURS: Full-time

PAY RATE: USD $21.25 - $27.00 per hour

Pay rate will vary based on criteria such as education, experience and qualifications of the applicant, location, internal equity, and alignment with the market.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENT: Less than 5%

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

The Tax Specialist will be responsible for validating sales tax exemption certificates, responding to emails regarding these certificates sales and assisting with various routine tax reports as needed.  The person in this role can understand broad objectives, work independently to achieve those objectives and take the initiative to develop processes as well as identify and implement process improvements.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Validate sales tax exemption certificates from various jurisdictions
• Handle high volume of emails regarding tax exemption certificates and maintain the certificates in Vertex On-Demand
• Interact with internal/external customers and tax jurisdictions via phone and/or email
• Assist with business license compliance
• Assist with various routine tax reports as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge/Skills/Abillities

• Ability to handle sensitive matters and information with tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality
• Attention to detail, ability to multitask, remain organized and prioritize tasks with strict deadlines
• Self-motivated team player, with the ability to work independently with minimal to moderate supervision
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and pivot focus of responsibilities in a smooth and efficient manner
• The ability to communicate (listening, writing and verbal) with customers and co-workers efficiently and effectively.

Education/Experience

• High school diploma or GED required, Associate degree preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience including customer service experience
• Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office and proficiency with learning new systems/technology with understanding some work is processed manually.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This job operates in a professional office environment. Largely a sedentary role with some filing requiring the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending or standing on a stool as necessary. The ability to sit or stand for long periods through meetings and while operating office equipment, PC’s, laptop, telephone will be required.  

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; drive, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

During events, the ability to stand and walk for long periods of time (5 hours plus) is required. The ability to communicate with customers and colleagues using the following but not limited to radio, walkie talkie, text message and email is required. The ability to lift, bend, push, pull and manipulate equipment that is a minimum of 30 lbs. is required.
