About the Role:

This is an amazing opportunity to use your payroll and tax expertise to reshape our customer experience. The Tax Operations team makes sure our payroll tax engine is running smoothly and firing on all cylinders. You’ll showcase your passion for customer service by processing and remitting tax payments and filings on our customers’ behalf while delivering a world-class customer experience. You will work closely with tax agencies as well as our cross-functional partner teams to reach the best outcomes for our customers and provide feedback on tools that streamline the filing process.

This role is very hands-on, with an emphasis on research and analysis, excellent communication skills, and first-principles problem solving.  A strong work ethic and a strong desire to be part of the team is critical for success. You must also possess and take pride in a high attention to detail, organization and task management, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven business environment.

We collaborate, help each other, and work cross-functional in a positive environment.

Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:

  • Be a process pro. Our customers depend on us to process their tax payments and filings accurately and on time. You’ll help process filings and remit payments to tax agencies on behalf of our customers.
  • Be a detective. When we hit errors or roadblocks in the process, you’ll investigate and solve issues that arise. And you’ll help prevent it from happening again.
  • Be an ambassador. You’ll work with tax agencies and our cross-functional teams to make sure we represent our customers the best we can, from setup through filing. Along the way, you’ll constantly keep our processes and documentation up to date.
  • Be an influencer. Provide business insights and recommendations based on data that will drive our strategy.
  • Be a builder. Build and implement scalable processes.
  • Provide exceptional service to our customers daily.

Here’s what we're looking for:

  • Experience in operations work, payroll tax, or tax operations in a startup / fast-moving tech environment preferred
  • Customer-first mindset. We love our customers, and you’ll help us fulfill our mission of helping business owners focus on what they do best: growing their business. Prides themselves in providing an exceptional customer experience during pivotal moments in our Gustomers' journey
  • Problem solving. You love understanding why something happened, fixing it, and then making sure it doesn’t happen again.
  • Cross-functional experience. Flexibility to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent team player. A consummate teammate who enjoys wearing multiple hats, inspiring everyone around you to do great work, and working collectively to hit our metrics and SLAs
  • Excellent communication skills. Written and verbal with ability to communicate complex topics in a simple, digestible way.
  • Improvement mentality. You’ll constantly challenge the status quo and have proven process improvement experience.
  • Organization. You’re comfortable keeping projects on track, are extremely organized and able to improve processes.
  • Software-savvy. You can pick up new systems and tools quickly.
