Role Description
FNZ is currently developing a new wealth account platform, and this role will participate and support the development, testing, configuration and integration for the new system. The U.S. Tax Manager to join our inhouse tax team to manage the tax team with day-to-day function and analyze and process tax information and data for FNZ wealth customers where it’s needed to help the team members.
The Tax Manager / AVP will report to the VP of Tax operation for North America and will be an important member of a tax team servicing 10,000 wealth customers comprised of a variety of accounts such as Individual, IRA, NRA, Family and Personal Trusts, Corporations, Charities, LLC, LLP, etc. General responsibilities will be daily monitoring of withholding tax, executing tax payments to tax authorities. analysis of transactional data on corporate actions, dividend/interest payments, amortization/accretion, income allocations, wash sales, gain/loss and making proper adjustments for tax purposes and the preparation of client and 1099 reporting
- Work as part of the tax team to manage daily tax functions, such as
- Provide timely support and clear tax advice to the Group Head of Tax and the wider business.
- Review and if necessary, implement new processes/controls for tax compliance globally.
Role Responsibilities
Tax Compliance
- Involved with daily/monthly tasks: IRA, NRA, backup withholding calculations and monthly payment reconciliation,
- Analyze transactional data that impacts distribution, income related events, cost changes
- Analyze fixed income for bond discount, original issue discount (OID), MBS and REMIC reporting.
- Provide technical guidance to Op’s team in connection with taxlot cost discrepancies
- Manage annual client reporting and issuance of 1099R, RMD, 1099 and 5498
- Corporate actions: monthly Corp actions and review taxability from CCH: Request starting positions when needed
- Review DOD step up cost basis and update inherited assets.
- Ensure monthly/annual tax information is provided to external investment advisors timely and correctly
- Organize daily tax call and contribute ideas to help overall tax functions to operate efficiently and effectively
Tax Advisory
- Act as the tax point of contact for internal and external - as required with support from Group Head of Tax.
Assist on Ad-hoc projects – i.e. participate new tax build as part of onboarding new clients, etc.
Experience required
- 5+ years of tax technical knowledge and experience in wealth management tax reporting
- Experience in analysis of architecture environment. Interest in technology solutions and technology delivery of investment platforms
- An understanding of the US financial and IRS regulatory environment
- Knowledge of SQL, Maxit cost basis application would be a plus
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, being able to clearly articulate your points, as well as influence and negotiate at all levels.
- Comfortable educating and training others within the business on tax related matters.
- You will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and demonstrable experience in developing solutions
- Good organizational, administration and time management skills.
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Proficient knowledge of desktop software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint etc.)
- Flexible and be able to adapt to a fast-paced environment.
