Job Description
The Opportunity:
We are seeking a Tax Director to lead Flywire's global tax strategy, compliance, and reporting functions. This role will be responsible for managing tax policies, optimizing tax structures, overseeing audits, and ensuring compliance with international, federal, and state tax regulations. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of tax planning, risk management, and operational efficiencies in a multinational environment.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Flywire's global tax strategy, ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Oversee direct and indirect tax compliance, including corporate income tax, sales tax, VAT/GST, and withholding tax filings.
  • Develop and implement tax-efficient structures and planning strategies to optimize Flywire's financial performance.
  • Manage tax audits, disputes, and interactions with tax authorities, mitigating risks and resolving issues efficiently.
  • Provide technical tax expertise on M&A transactions, transfer pricing policies, and cross-border taxation.
  • Collaborate with finance, legal, and business teams to assess tax implications of strategic business decisions.
  • Ensure timely and accurate tax reporting and provisions, working closely with accounting teams to support financial audits.
  • Stay informed on global tax regulatory changes, advising leadership on potential impacts and necessary adjustments.
  • Implement process improvements and automation to enhance tax reporting, compliance, and operational efficiency.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing tax team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.


Qualifications
What We Are Looking For:
We are looking for a seasoned tax professional with extensive experience in global taxation, compliance, and strategic tax planning.
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in taxation, accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA, JD, or master's degree in taxation preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in corporate tax, including experience in global tax compliance, planning, and structuring.
  • Strong knowledge of US federal and state tax laws, along with international tax regulations, transfer pricing, and indirect taxes.
  • Experience managing tax audits, controversy resolution, and relationships with tax authorities.
  • Proficiency in tax reporting, financial statements, and ASC 740 tax accounting standards.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement tax strategies that drive business efficiencies and mitigate risks.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in financial modeling, tax forecasting, and scenario planning.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior executives.
  • Experience in high-growth, technology, fintech, or multinational organizations is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote-first environment, while effectively managing a global tax team.
