Tax Accountant

Job Description:

The Tax Accountant will bring valuation experience in state and local tax related matters including using software (PTMS) to prepare and file Business Personal Property Tax Returns, Reconcile notices of value, and remit tax payments. The position will have some mentoring/coaching of tax staff responsibilities.

Essential Functions of the role:

Property Tax:

• Assisting with the preparation and filing of Business Personal Property Tax returns using PTMS software
• Troubleshooting data imports into system of record
• Reconciling Notices of Value and filing informal or formal appeals when necessary
• Payment of Property Tax Bills
• Providing Customer Assistance on Property Tax technical questions
• Interfacing with Internal and External customers
• Providing Audit support as needed

Sales Tax:

• Provide tax audit support upon request
• Provide clients with tax support upon request
• Assist in gathering and documenting department procedures
• Research sales tax inquiries and tax law changes using RIA-Checkpoint
• Keep abreast of new tax law changes and assess impact to the company
• Special Projects as request

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with 2-5 years of relevant work experience OR Associate's Degree in Accounting with 4+ years experience
• CPA, MBA a plus-not required
• Experience with PTMS software
• Experience with Vertex or similar software a plus
• Leasing Industry experience a plus
• Prior Public Accounting experience and/or Large Corporation experience a plus
• Strong PC skills, including Excel, Access and Word
• Experience with on-line tax accounting research tools such as Thompson Reuter's products (Checkpoint, RIA) a plus

JOB SPECIFICATIONS, PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Work Environment: This position is in Alpharetta, GA and operates in a professional office environment.
• Positions Type/Standard Schedule: This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday; Hybrid (3 days onsite).
• Travel:  Minimal travel – from 0% to less than 10%.

Pay Range:

$46,200-$64,700

The base salary range for this position is listed above. This position is eligible to participate in the annual incentive plan which is based on company performance and individual performance. Compensation ranges are based on several factors including job function, level, and geographic location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience, education, certifications, skill level and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed here.
