Summary:
The role of Systems Engineering Sr.Manager is to innovate, develop, standardize and launch low-medium-complex automation equipment for Baxter global manufacturing network that will be best in class to meet / exceed equipment availability, reliability and quality metrics,
This role will serve as the technical head for a global team of equipment designers which will encompass mechanical and electrical systems design. The role will serve as a thought process leader responsible for designing and launching the next generation equipment. This role will lead process simulation, incorporate Industry 4.0 Tools, ML / AI for health monitoring and algorithms for predicting equipment failure, etc.
What you'll be doing:
• Lead and manage a team of Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and fostering an environment of continuous learning and improvement.
• Resolve technical issues related to automatic processes and equipment that are complex and unclearly defined. Technical solutions are based on limited information and require conceptual thinking. Implementation taking into consideration multiple perspectives and future implications.
• Contribute to the development of new design techniques, innovative systems within the area of automation for pharmaceutical processes;.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product Management, Software Engineering, Mechanical Design, and Manufacturing, and provide technical expertise and guidance to define and implement systems engineering requirements for Baxter products and processes;
• Responsible for executing the project strategy for simple, medium and complex automatic machines at global manufacturing sites;
• Lead the evaluation of equipment user requirements both during the quotation phase and at the receipt of project documentation;
• Define the functional architecture of a new system, including process mapping and value stream;
• Arrange, manage and plan the resources and activities of the equipment designers;
• Oversee the design, development, and testing of systems, including mechanical components and process automation systems, to ensure they meet quality, reliability, and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with project leaders, suppliers and segments leaders and use these relationships to drive project strategy reviews and technical discussions to align on practice and approach
• Conduct risk assessments, identify potential issues, and develop mitigation plans to minimize risks and ensure product safety.
• Organize and supervise the team in order to create and maintain system documentation, such as software requirements specifications, architecture diagrams, mechanical design drawings, process flow diagrams, design documents, safety documentation.
• Drive the implementation of best practices in systems engineering, promoting the use of industry standards and methodologies.
• Lead and participate in systems engineering reviews, design reviews, and other project milestone reviews.
• Implement process automation solutions to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and increase quality.
What you'll bring:
• Deep knowledge of design for automatic machines;
• Deep knowledge of computerized drawing techniques;
• Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD software and ability to use enterprise software;
• Good knowledge of automatic machine controls and programming techniques;
• Knowledge of material technologies and their application into pharmaceutical industry;
• Knowledge of main norms related to machines manufacturing and fundamentals of technical documentation, safety rules;
• Proven track record of leading improvement initiatives and projects in manufacturing operations and functional disciplines delivering complex projects on time and within budget;
• Strong interpersonal skills and flexibility to effectively work at different levels of the organization and ability to provide coaching, motivate and guide team members;
• Strong understanding of systems engineering principles, methodologies, and tools
• Expert problem solver and ability to think strategically;
• Experience managing improvement teams and strong influencing skills without having direct authority;
• Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills;
• Knowledge of change management and project management techniques.
• Master or Bachelor degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial preferred) or Technical disciplines. M.S. or MBA preferred;
• 5-10 years of experience in Technical departments for systems engineering and automatic machines design, development and building with, at leasl 5 years in a leadership role;
• Ability to travel 30-40%;
• Language skills: Fluent in both Italian and English, B2 as minimum.
