HRL is seeking a systems administrator experienced in Windows or Linux environments. The successful candidate will collaborate with other systems administrators located at various locations throughout the United States. A willingness to continue learning new technologies is a must. An active Secret clearance and experience in classified programs is required. The successful candidate will be upgraded to a Top Secret security clearance.


Essential Duties:

Perform a multi-disciplined range of technical system and application activities

Install, configure, and maintain multiplatform systems hardware, software, and components

Administer Windows and Linux systems in the operations, engineering, analysis, and test environments

Maintain Windows systems comprised of servers, workstations, and thin clients

Administer installation of software, hardware, file system management, backups, process control, user administration, and device management

Resolve a wide variety of complex system failures, troubleshooting software, hardware, and network problems

Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft Active Directory domains

Perform system and user account maintenance

Test and assess security configuration of Windows and Linux servers

Monitor, evaluate, and optimize system performance

Analyze, test, implement security patches, and systems hardening

Document maintenance & ticketing actions 

Develop and promote standard operating procedures and conduct routine hardware and software audits of servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines

If required, assist in IT security incident response and documentation

Participate in internal & external security audits/inspections


Required Skills:

Minimum 2 years of directly related experience in systems administration, network administration, or cyber security

Demonstrated experience in platform-specific systems administration (Windows or Linux)

An understanding of multiplatform system hardening (e.g., DISA STIG, SCAP)

An understanding of VMware vSphere virtual environments

Some experience with scripting for task automation (e.g., PowerShell, Batch, BASH)

Some knowledge of cyber security technology and trends (e.g., Tenable, McAfee, Splunk)

An understanding of networking fundamentals (e.g., switching, routing, firewalls, load balancing)

Experience with system monitoring & alerting tools (e.g., Nagios)

Experience with Risk Management Framework and working within an accredited system

Demonstrated experience working independently & in a team environment

A current Top Secret/SCI security clearance with Full Scope Polygraph is preferred

Experience in multiplatform systems administration (Windows and Linux) is desired

Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 configuration, management, and troubleshooting

An Understanding of Group Policy management•Some experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (8, 9)

Some experience with SAN management (e.g., NetApp, Dell Unity)

Some experience with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (i.e., Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktops) 

Exchange Server 2019 configuration, management, and troubleshooting

Experience with systems management and automation software e.g., (Endpoint Configuration Manager, Satellite, Ansible, Systems Center Orchestrator)

Some experience with High Performance Computing


Required Education:

High School diploma/GED with 2+ years of experience in an System Administration role OR 

Associate degree in information technology, information security, computer science, or a related field with 1+ years of experience in a related role

DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II (or higher) certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, CISSP) within 6 months of hire


Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 


Special Requirements:

This position is 100% on-site.

Responsibilities sometimes require working evenings and weekends, and in some cases, with little to no advance notice.

This job will also require up to 15% travel.

This position requires that the applicant selected be a U.S. citizen and possess an active Secret security clearance.

The applicant must also be willing to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI clearance with polygraph.


This position requires that the applicant obtain a DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II (or higher) certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, CISSP) within 6 months of hire.


As part of your role/function on the program, you will be granted privileged user access, which is subject to greater scrutiny as a direct result of the significant responsibilities. Please be aware that because of these critical duties, you will be subject to additional IT system monitoring and supervisory evaluation to ensure continuous adherence to Privileged User processes and procedures. Privileged Users are subject to a zero-tolerance policy for security violations.


Compensation:

The base salary range for this full-time position is $90,640 - $113,353 + bonus + benefits.

Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
