Job Description

Within Vanderlande, you will be in the IT & Remote Services department as part of the Service Deployment Group. The department consists of IT Service Consultants, IT System Architects, IT Project Leader, and IT Service Delivery Manager who work together to make sure IT systems and IT services are fit-for-purpose and available around the clock for our customers to use.

Our customers are increasingly recognizing the importance of IT services throughout the life cycle of a system. Our Warehouse solutions are evolving in size and complexity, becoming increasingly productized and modular on all levels (equipment, IT software and IT hardware), which leads to a growing importance of our IT services.

As a System Architect you are responsible for the specification and system design of new multi-disciplinary modules to be used worldwide in our logistic systems. You will have a main focus on our market leading solutions for Parcel and Warehousing. Your system design is further detailed by our team consisting of Service Sales Specialists and Project Leaders with whom you closely cooperate. You will be cooperate with different stakeholders outside the stream like Product Managers, Software Engineers and Customers.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze the stakeholder needs and user requirements, combining them with the technological requirements imposed by Vanderlande’s technology standards and reference architecture;

  • For the Warehousing segment, supporting our existing customers worldwide in the area of software and logistics services,

  • Design warehouse management systems using and taking into account our products and our development standards;

  • Design the necessary specifications and system elements for mapping logistics processes in UML 2.0 or BPMN;

  • Translate the process requirements into efficient system requirements;

  • Analyze the stakeholder needs and user requirements, combining them with the technological requirements imposed by Vanderlande’s technology standards and reference architecture;

  • Design and document the system architecture including its key interface specifications and the requirements imposed on the various components;

  • Able to pose the right technical questions to the stakeholders and to the engineering teams so the right investigations are executed; Preferably based on the right model fidelity;

What we ask from you?  

You have a pragmatic and result-driven attitude. You are eager to learn and curious about the new technologies within and outside Vanderlande. It is important that you can convince others of a particular point of view to obtain an agreement with your stakeholders.

  • Successfully completed studies in logistics, computer science, automation technology or a comparable technical degree specialising in IT

  • Several years of professional experience in a logistics environment desirable

  • Good knowledge in the areas of intralogistics and material flow in relation to warehouse management systems and processes and strong skills in visualising and arguing delivery scopes

  • Ideally initial experience in the field of database principles Oracle, e. g. C#, Java

  • Already in contact with the requirements management process and the creation of specifications, test concepts and the associated documents

  • Very good knowledge in English (German is a plus) as well as willingness to travel and enjoy customer contact (internal and external) in the context of concept and requirement specifications
