Description:POSITION PURPOSE

Responsible for the installation, maintenance and support of application infrastructure and Wintel servers and their related environments in a large multi-location environment. Provides advanced support for Windows based operating systems. Responsible for Wintel server technologies, which includes virtualization concepts and technologies such as VMware/vCenter, physical server hardware, systems management, server automation and anti-virus. Also responsible for the maintenance and support of components in the data center such as servers, storage, appliances as well as power, cabling, and HVAC. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Trinity Health mission, vision, and values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.
  • Installs, maintains, supports, upgrades, and troubleshoots application and client servers and their related environments in a large multi-location environment comprised of over 15,000 servers. Provides advanced support Windows based operating systems to ensure system availability and operability.
  • Responsible for networking technologies, such as, TCP/IP, DNS, WINS subnets.
  • Applies specialized knowledge in SAN/storage technologies and infrastructure, networking, replication technologies, disaster recovery processes and business continuity. 
  • Monitors all data center equipment for errors, messages, connectivity, machine failures and functionality via various commercial and proprietary monitoring applications. Ensures that corrective and preventive measures are taken as needed. Initiates problem-solving procedures according to predetermined instructions. Determines when technical assistance is needed from vendor or other resources and escalates difficult and unresolved problems to the next level of support.
  • Identifies and assists in the resolution of issues reported by customers arising from use of application software on supported servers.
  • Responds quickly to data center emergencies, including power outages and failures. 
  • Collaborates with other technical teams to address and resolve complex infrastructure issues. 
  • Collaborates with vendors and contractors for the installation, repair, and upgrade of equipment.
  • Oversees and inspects the work performed by contractors to ensure compliance with standards. 
  • Maintain detailed documentation infrastructure and inventory. 
  • Strong discipline to adherence of cabling, power, wire management and labeling standards.
  • Adheres to and assists with enforcing established change control and security policies and procedures. 
  • Assists with the planning and execution of data center expansions and upgrades. 
  • Identifies, analyzes, and resolves moderately complex to complex problems and issues.
  • Collaborates with colleagues and supervisors to resolve cross-departmental problems or issues.
  • Recommends changes to servers and operating systems that would improve system and network performance. 
  • Understands and is disciplined in the ability to recover critical infrastructure and applications proactively.
  • Participates in on-call support rotation as specified by management.
  • Participates in coaching and mentoring others in their work efforts. Provides guidance to others and problem resolution on highly technical or moderately complex problems and issues.
  • Research hardware and software industry trends in health care.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws/regulations; the Trinity Health Integrity and Compliance Program and Code of Conduct; as well as other policies and procedures to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate degree or equivalent combination training and experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Technical certifications or MCSE preferred.
  • Five or more years of experience in high availability and large multi-location environment comprised of over 15,000 server’s environment supporting Windows based operating systems. 
  • Extensive knowledge with three or more years of server virtualization, server automation (VMware/ vCenter, Hyper-V) required.
  • Experience supporting HP / Dell servers.
  • Knowledge of enterprise anti-virus software.
  • Knowledge of server management and software distribution software such as MS-SCCM, and Patch Management software HP SIM/One View.
  • Experience working with project teams to design and implement innovative solutions.
  • Experience in technical writing and an understanding of records and knowledge management.
  • Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
  • Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals, and values of Trinity Health.

  • Additional skills such as Power Shell scripting, Power CLI VMware is a plus. 

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Must be able to set and organize own work priorities and adapt to them as they change frequently. Must be able to work concurrently on a variety of tasks/projects in an environment that may be stressful with individuals having diverse personalities and work styles. 
  • This position operates in a typical office environment. The area is well-lit, temperature-controlled, and free from hazards.
  • Incumbent communicates frequently, in person and over the telephone, with people in m multiple locations on technical issues.
  • Manual dexterity is needed to operate a keyboard. Hearing is needed for extensive telephone and in person communications. 
  • The environment in which the incumbent will work requires the ability to concentrate, meet deadlines, work on several projects at the same period and adapt to interruptions.
  • Must possess the ability to comply with Trinity Health policies and procedures.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to draft reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
