Job Description
Job Purpose:
The Sustainability Manager is responsible for engaging internal and external stakeholders to uplift company’s environmental performance in order to achieve its long-term goals and priorities, in compliances with relevant national and international laws and regulations and in response to global concern of climate change as a responsible corporate citizen.
The Sustainability Manager is responsible for engaging targeted suppliers in upstream supply chain through education, assessment and audit in order to uplift their environment performance and in support of company’s long-term sustainability goals.
He/she is in charge of attaining from relevant stakeholders a buy-in of importance of in-operations environment via planning, implementing, monitoring, reviewing and reporting of company’s environment performance. He/she is responsible for initiating practical models of environment that can be rolled out to other regions and other relevant target groups. His/her roles also cover responses to national and international benchmarks in areas of environment with continual improvement of applicable score and percentile ranking.
Main Responsibilities:
In-house implementation of environment
- Work closely with relevant functions to implement applicable environmental practices via 4R approach – reduce, reuse, recycle, replace (energy, water, waste, effluent, carbon dioxide emission) in operations in order to achieve the company’s goal of net-zero carbon by 2050
- Arrange an annual workshop/sessions to enhance environmental capability of relevant colleagues
- Develop and maintain systematic database to capture needed environmental indicators for reporting purpose
Educate, assess, audit and improve tier 1 and non-tier 1 suppliers’ performance on environment
- Arrange educational workshops on environment for targeted suppliers
- Maintain online environmental assessment of targeted suppliers
- On-site/remotely audit targeted suppliers on environment with issued improvement plans where needed
- Regularly follow up and cooperate with targeted suppliers to continually improve their environmental non-conformities
Update on applicable environmental laws, regulations and standards
- Keep up-to-date applicable environmental laws, regulations and standards to ensure company’s and its suppliers’ compliances and continual improvement against those laws, regulations and standards
Response to national and international benchmark questionnaires
- Respond to national and international questionnaires e.g. DJSI, CDP, FTSE4Good, MSCI, SET Sustainability Award, etc.to continually improve company performances on environment
Initiation of environment models/kits
- Devise practical models/kits or applicable tools of environment practices that can be rolled out to other regions and other relevant target groups in order to expand reporting scope
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Fluent in English (listening, speaking, reading and writing)
- Good interpersonal skill and able to communicate to all levels
- Self-motivated, adaptable and able to work in high-demand situations
- Self-learning and eager to learn new things
- Proven ability to build, manage and foster a team-oriented environment
- Ability to foster trust relationships with colleagues and stakeholders
- Skill in networking with external stakeholders
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in environment or related fields. Master’s Degree in related fields is a plus.
Experience:
- Minimum 7-year progressive experiences in environment implementation compliance and/or audits
- Experience in responding to DJSI, CDP, FTSE4Good, etc.
- Experience in project management
