We are currently seeking a Surveying Graduate - Surveyor 1 in our in our Missoula office as a Surveying Graduate - Surveyor 1 you will be responsible for providing surveying duties, applying knowledge of principles, and practices in areas of land surveying related fields. The Surveying Graduate will provide surveying assistance under leadership from a Survey Coordinator or Land Surveyor. The Surveying Graduate will be responsible for calculations and surveying judgment based on surveying experience, documented practices, systems, and examples which will be reviewed by a Survey Coordinator or Land Surveyor.

Principal Responsibilities

•  Perform survey duties associated with construction stakeout and boundary, topographic, and as built surveys
•  Research historic maps, land records, previous surveys, and land title reports
•  Assist with boundary reductions and mapping/topographic field reductions in CAD/survey software
•  Download, maintain, and verify accuracy of project survey data and manage survey database. Review processed data collection and field notes for quality control
•  Assist with survey computations, staking/control exhibits, and survey crew instructions for construction staking and field survey projects
•  Assistance of operation of GPS equipment, total stations, levels, data collectors and other survey equipment
•  Act as survey field technician as requested to complete survey field work
•  Assist CAD Techs in preparing plans and plats describing in detail the surveys performed
•  Maintain professional and productive working relationships with all clients and coworkers
•  Operate a company vehicle
•  Observe safety and security procedures

Required Skills/Abilities
•  Work to gain or advance knowledge of land surveying operations, computations, principles and practices
•  Work to gain understanding or advance ability to read and interpret engineering plans and construction documents
•  Knowledgeable with on-site office operation, office workflow processes and problem- solving techniques
•  Work to gain understanding of survey operations and identification of potential problems
•  Knowledgeable with AutoCAD C3D, survey, GPS, MS Office software
•  Possesses oral and written communication skills
•  Ability to communicate with clients, officials, contractors, coworkers and professionally represent IMEG
•  Valid driver’s license with ability to be insured by IMEG carrier; must consent to a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background check
•  Proficient in Microsoft and MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
•  Ability to travel with occasional overnight stays

Education and Experience

•  Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent required
•  Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred

•  This position is not eligible for sponsorship

Physical Requirements
•  Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds
•  Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull
•  Will have limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises
