Join us as an operator in our Surfacing teams based in Timaru!

We are looking for Surfacing Operators to join our Timaru based surfacing team! In these roles, you will operate machinery and perform labouring tasks to help deliver surfacing work for our customers safely, on time and to the highest quality standard. If you have a willingness to learn, a passion for operating machinery and laying the black gold, we can help provide the training necessary to get you up to scratch. During the quieter season, this role will also provide you with the opportunity to work in several different departments around the business, further expanding your skillset.

In addition to the above you will:

• Operate a range of Surfacing Equipment, including Pavers, Rollers, Chip Spreaders, Bitumen Sprayers, Loaders and more.
• Carry out general maintenance of plant and ensure all plant and work sites are kept in a safe and tidy condition.
• Perform general labouring duties within the Surfacing departments.
• Assist in the execution of the sealing and paving works, as required by the Contract Specifications applicable.

We’re looking for someone with:  

• Reliability and flexibility - Some days are longer than others as we tend to make hay while the sun shines, so as a team we rely on each other to share the workload.
• Full Class 1 licence (Class 2-5 and WTR endorsements are advantageous)
• Experience operating Loaders and Rollers. Previous Surfacing experience is advantageous but not necessary (If you’re willing to learn, we’re happy to train you!)
• The ability to problem solve in a fast paced environment
• A proactive approach to Health and Safety - it’s our #1 priority
• Good communication skills
• A positive attitude and most importantly, a good sense of humour
