The Smithfield Bioscience team is seeking a motivated professional to support the distribution of our products to customers. The Supply Chain Analyst will be responsible for analyzing business operations to help achieve company goals, focusing on cost reduction, process optimization, and enhancing the customer experience. This position will oversee inventory management and lead a team to ensure efficient operations. The analyst will collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide analytical support for continuous supply chain improvement. In addition, this role will track key performance indicators and provide reporting to various internal stakeholders. The Supply Chain Analyst will also contribute to research and resolve issues related to sales reporting, systems functionality, and vendor management.
Core Responsibilities

Develop and implement supply chain strategies to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.

Analyze market trends and adapt supply chain strategies accordingly.

Identify and evaluate potential suppliers and negotiate contracts to secure favorable terms.

Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure quality and timely delivery.

Monitor inventory levels and implement inventory control measures to optimize stock.

Conduct regular inventory audits and implement best practices for inventory management.

Oversee the transportation and distribution of goods, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with regulations.

Collaborate with logistics partners to improve shipping processes and reduce lead times.

Work closely with departments such as procurement, production, and sales to align supply chain activities with overall business goals.

Communicate supply chain issues and updates to relevant stakeholders.

Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure supply chain efficiency and effectiveness.

Analyze performance data and implement improvements based on findings.

Identify potential risks within the supply chain and develop contingency plans to mitigate them.

Stay informed about industry trends and changes that may impact the supply chain.

Analyze supply chain costs and identify areas for improvement to maximize profitability.

Develop budgets for supply chain operations and ensure adherence to financial targets.

Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to supply chain operations.

Implement quality control measures to maintain high standards throughout the supply chain.

Lead and mentor supply chain staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.

Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university and 2+ years’ relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.

Knowledge of supply chain process flow and customer relations from a supply chain perspective.

Must be skilled in computer and software applications, which are critical in order to effectively, execute the job. i.e., SAP/BW, Microsoft Suite.

Strong expertise in Excel is required.

SAP experience preferred.

Strong communication and organizational skills with experience involving customer contact, problem resolution, and related product knowledge.

Capable of learning new IT systems as tasking and management data needs evolve.

Demonstrated ability to work in cross-functional teams.

Must display an aptitude and eagerness for learning and developing new business and technical skills quickly, strong problem-solving skills, show initiative, great attention to detail.
