Role and Responsibilites:
- Industrial/Manufacturing Engineer with excellent communication, problem solving and time management skills
- Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assisting SQEs and Managers with various internal and external continuous improvement projects.
- Supplier audit support remotely and potentially onsite (some travel within Michigan may be required).
- Automotive industry research.
- Database management.
- Identify and learn how each Adient internal organization is integrated, and works together to achieve organizational goals.
- Unique challenges include:
- Simultaneously balancing multiple project deliverables from various internal functional groups, Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) and customers.
- Assisting in the optimization of identified technical solutions to meet metric objectives including among others: cost, Key Performance Indices (KPI’s), program timing and launch.
- Spend time at local Adient plant(s) working with plant SQEs on supplier issues.
- Unique opportunities include:
- Daily exposure and interaction with experienced automotive industry professionals and Subject Matter Technical Experts (SMTE’s).
- Develop a key understanding of standard automotive industry standards and requirements.
- Networking and relationship building among multiple internal Adient organizations.
Additional Duties:
- Reach out to Adient suppliers as necessary in support of Adient Quality objectives.
- Generate reports within the Microsoft Office environment.
- Report out to leadership on status of current assignments.
- Assist with the training of incoming interns/co-ops as needed.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be currently enrolled in an accredited university, and in good standing, while working towards a 4-year B.S. degree in Engineering or related technical field.
- Ability to maintain a minimum overall GPA of at least 3.0.
- Available to work up to 40 hours per week, which may include some travel.
- Previous internship or co-op experience in automotive related position preferred.
- Strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with Adient customers, suppliers, and internal development teams.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; attention to detail, organization skills and follow-up.
- Ability to listen, follow instructions, lead, be a self-starter, self-finisher, and work without constant supervision.
- Proficient in MS Office and Teams.
- Must be willing to work in an office environment, and travel to manufacturing sites.
- At all times, present yourself professionally as an honest, ethical, Adient representative.
