SUMMARY:
Responsible for reviewing current internal and external quality indicators and
ensuring quality of parts provided by suppliers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Gather data from multiple sources, decipher complex data looking for root cause and improvement points that can be implemented to improve the complete customer experience.
- Review production processes and vehicle quality output. Conduct PFEMA and Control Plan Audits on various production processes.
- Work on quick investigation items when requested to assist production groups in coming up with short term counter measures.
- Work on Complex Problems as assigned. Activities will include hands-on work looking for root cause and temporary/permanent counter measures, may also lead cross-functional work teams in doing so.
- Lead new car Quality Engineering activities including:
- Vehicle audits, reporting of findings, tracking counter measures and verifying their effectiveness, drawing and lessons learned reviews, Create Inspection Standards, Conduct Real World Driving evaluations, may manage vehicle testing fleet, may work with outside testing companies.
- Knowledge of interior components like seats, dashboards, airbags etc.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- B.S. degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field, two
- (2) to five (5) years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong self-responsibility, planning, and organizational skills, able to perform multi-tasks within set time frames.
- Flexible schedule to work overtime, holidays and weekends as required.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
- Analytical problem solving and effective decision-making skills. Hands on skills and ability to work directly on vehicles while investigating concerns.
- Broad understanding vehicle systems and how the interrelated to the complete car and customer experience
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion in both exercising company decisions and carrying out essential job duties that affect efficient business operations and its objectives, policies, practices, and conditions.
- Ability to lead cross functional teams from multiple departments.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Possess technical skills and knowledge of quality control systems in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
- Must have experience PPAP, APQP, Auditing, and Injection Molding
- Understand Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP). Experience using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Access. Experience with SAP system preferred.
- Technical Skills: DFEMA/PFMEA, APQP/ISIR, conducting audits (audit certifications), DC tooling (electrical), etc.
- Preferred Skills: Project Management, Lean Six Sigma, Microsoft Suite, GQMS, etc.
- Interpersonal Skills: Conflict Resolution, Time Management, Effective communication skills, etc.
Candidates should have SPC (Statistical Process Control) experience, which involves
- Statistical analysis
- Reading data and pulling analysis
- Analyzing data to identify issues or quality concerns
- Using SPC as a quality tool
Experience working with panels or paneling
Proficiency with CATIA for design and AutoCAD
Experience working with suppliers and conducting audits
Experience creating control plans
PSMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)
Preferred: APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) experience
Experience with interior parts, including:
- Seating
- Dashboard or crash pad
- Headliners
Understanding plastics
PSMEA experience
APQP experience
PPAP (Production Part Approval Process), known as ASIR in KIA
Experience working with suppliers
Audit experience
IATF 16949 or BDA certifications preferred, but audit experience in these areas is also acceptable
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Work is normally performed in an office, laboratory, manufacturing floor, or machine shop setting where physical work includes, but is not limited to, sitting, standing, reaching, kneeling, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Must be able to understand and comply with all relevant safety practices.
