Welcome to the UPM R&D Advanced Chemical Analytics Team! We are looking for a forward-thinking and active student with good collaboration and self-leadership skills. By joining our team, you will get a great chance to work with sophisticated imaging tools and develop new methods for bio-based products of our businesses. Your work will be supported by a team of inspiring experts, and you will have a great opportunity to learn and develop your skills in image analysis and method development for material research -Sanna Valkonen, Senior Manager.
What you will do

Develop image processing and analysis method for different materials and products in the forest industry such as fibers, paper and packaging, organic and inorganic fillers and polymers

Test and optimize settings and parameters of image analysis software to obtain high quality data for interpretation

Document the developed methods and report the results to internal stakeholders

Work in large research center with 7 different laboratories and collaborate with internal and external R&D experts to complete the development project
Who you are
We are looking for a master’s degree student e.g. in chemical or materials engineering, who has prior knowledge and practical experience with image analysis software tools. In this role, a good understanding of material analysis by microscopy and SEM techniques, as well as an interest in method development, are beneficial. Self-leadership skills, attention to detail, and enthusiasm for learning and developing in the job are desired qualities.
