Position Summary
 
Looking for a great summer internship experience? Here’s your chance to gain valuable work experience with a leading health care provider!

This internship will begin on 5/27/25 and the duration of the internship program is 12 weeks. Please note that this is a hybrid position; some work will be done in our Portland offices and some remotely. Interns must live in Maine throughout the 12-week program. The pay rate is $20/hr.
Job Description

As an intern on the Infrastructure team, you will gain valuable hands-on experience in an innovative healthcare organization. You will have opportunities to work with servers, networking, automation, enterprise storage, experience a physical datacenter, and a deeply virtualized environment and learn important career skills by participating in standardized change management and design processes, auditing and remediation for regulatory compliance, and process improvement activities.

You will assist with projects related to, but not limited to, the following:

  • Participate in the implementation, installation, configuration, monitoring and technical support of systems applications, infrastructure hardware, and network/security devices.
  • Provide maintenance for programs, tools, and processes for automating tasks surrounding the infrastructure development lifecycle (IDLC).
  • Assist with developing and maintaining solutions for operational administration, system/data backup and recovery, disaster recovery, and monitoring security and performance.
  • Work with the technical experts in the IT department to streamline workflows and processes to ensure efficient and thorough support to meet organizational audit requirements.
  • Create and maintain accurate and relevant infrastructure documentation including diagrams, as-built documents, configuration templates, inventories, and IT Service Catalog.

Education/Experience:

  • Currently enrolled in two or four-year undergraduate degree program such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Networking, Cybersecurity, or Information Systems / Information Technology.
  • Genuine interest in the health care industry.
  • Working knowledge of or strong willingness to learn Microsoft Office, Linux and Windows operating systems, cloud computing platforms, writing, and maintaining scripts for automation, Git or similar code management tools, automation platforms, containerization and virtualization technologies, networking protocols, and Cisco Server technologies.
  • Working knowledge or interest in incident response, disaster recovery, contingency planning, encryption technologies, business methodologies, and/or vulnerability management.
