The Corporate Communications Director will be responsible for developing and delivering an integrated corporate communication strategy aligned to MetLife Mexico strategy and key business priorities. This pivotal role will partner with Marketing, Human Resources, and other functional teams to inform, engage, and inspire employees, while also advancing the company's external reputation through proactive public and media relations efforts.
To succeed here, you must be a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is eager to build and make an impact. This is a hands-on role requiring you to take initiative and excel at both strategic planning and tactical execution. The successful candidate will be proactive, creative and highly collaborative.
This position offers a unique opportunity to shape the narrative of a cutting-edge company dedicated to providing protection to everyone in Mexico. This role will be based in Mexico City, manage a team of talented professionals, and report to Mexico's Chief Marketing & Communications Officer and a matrixed relationship to the regional Vice President of Corporate Communications & Sustainability in Latin America.
Strategy and Execution
- Partner with stakeholders to develop and execute a comprehensive corporate communication strategy, program and messaging that aligns to and helps advance the company's mission, strategy and key business priorities.
- Continuously assess corporate communication strategy, messaging, channels and processes to find and deliver new and better ways to bring the MetLife Mexico story to life internally and externally.
- Partner with senior leaders and functional teams to create and consistently deliver content for both internal and external audiences and channels.
Internal Communications
- Own, execute and improve established internal communication channels to regularly inform and engage employees, including company-wide emails, e-newsletters, monthly Town Halls, and more.
- Build, launch and maintain new communication channels and processes to more consistently engage MetLife associates in our mission, priorities and progress.
- Develop and coordinate employee communication programs and campaigns to advance the company's mission, strategy, culture and key objectives, including supporting significant company milestones and announcements.
- Support and advise senior leaders to effectively communicate with employees, based on a good understanding of the pulse of the organization.
- Advise the leadership team on HR-related communications and programs.
External Communications And Public Relations
- Develop and execute a proactive public and media relations strategy to strengthen MetLife Mexico brand and reputation and raise awareness of the company and its protection solutions.
- Create and manage news releases, media pitches, talking points and other content to showcase the company's story in compelling ways through earned media, owned channels, social media and our public website.
- Closely partner and coordinate with the Business, Product and Marketing teams to support key brand campaigns, programs and product launches.
- In collaboration with agency partners, cultivate and maintain relationships with key media outlets, journalists and industry influencers to secure positive coverage and effectively manage company newsflow.
Content Creation And Management
- Stay on top of company developments and industry trends to find timely, creative, and engaging ways to share news and progress both internally and externally.
- Develop written materials including emails, presentations, key messages, FAQs and more.
- Train and advise company spokespeople; prepare talking points, briefing documents and other communication materials for and on behalf of senior leaders.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communication, or a related discipline is required.
- 10+ years of experience in communications (internal and/or external), preferably in-house at a global public company. Fluency in English is a must-have.
- Demonstrated leadership presence and experience advising and fostering trusted relationships with C-level leaders
- Demonstrated track record of success in media relations, crisis communications and reputation management.
- Excellent written and verbal communicator, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy, who can tailor messages to ensure relevance to a diverse set of internal and external audiences.
- Proven ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with a high sense of urgency.
- Strategic thinker who is passionate about developing and executing integrated communication plans that drive business objectives.
- Ability to see the bigger picture and "connect dots" across the organization to maximize impact.
- Cross-functional experience with the ability to influence and collaborate with multiple stakeholders at all levels.
- A track record of prioritizing and executing competing priorities effectively.
- Strong global mindset and experience working effectively in multinational organizations.
