Position Summary:
The Student Education Partnerships Manager will be responsible for driving OceanX Education’s engagement with universities, science centers, classrooms, and student-focused education programs. This individual will develop and maintain relationships with key academic institutions, educators, and program leaders to expand OceanX’s educational impact.
The key focus of this role is to build partnerships that facilitate fellowships, residency programs, and alumni networks, ensuring sustained engagement and long-term collaboration. This role will support OceanX Education’s mission to inspire the next generation of ocean leaders by fostering hands-on learning experiences, integrating digital and interactive content, and collaborating with OceanX’s broader science and media initiatives.

Role Responsibilities:
- Develop and lead OceanX Education’s student partnership strategy, identifying and engaging with universities, science centers, and K-12 education programs.
- Establish and manage partnerships to launch and sustain fellowships, residencies, and alumni programs in collaboration with academic institutions and other educational organizations.
- Work closely with internal teams (Science, Media, and Public Programming) to align partnerships with OceanX’s broader educational goals.
- Identify funding and grant opportunities through partnerships with educational institutions, nonprofits, and government agencies.
- Coordinate educational programming and student engagement initiatives, including internships, research opportunities, and immersive learning experiences aboard OceanXplorer.
- Represent OceanX Education at conferences, convenings, and academic events to cultivate relationships and enhance OceanX’s educational influence.
- Develop assessment and reporting frameworks to track the impact of student programs and partnerships.
- Stay informed on trends in ocean science education and STEM learning, integrating best practices into OceanX’s educational initiatives.
- Additional duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will possess the following professional qualifications:
- At least 10 years of experience in education partnerships, student program development, or academic collaboration, preferably in STEM, ocean science, or environmental education.
- Strong network and relationships within higher education, science centers, and K-12 education programs.
- Proven track record of developing and launching fellowships, residencies, or student-focused initiatives.
- Experience managing multiple partnerships and collaborating with academic and nonprofit organizations.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently and lead strategic initiatives.
The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, attributes, and values:
- Deep understanding of experiential learning, STEM education, and workforce development in ocean sciences.
- Familiarity with grant writing and fundraising for educational initiatives.
- Experience in digital and interactive education content development.
- Highly strategic, adaptable, and able to navigate ambiguity in partnership structures.
- Passion for ocean conservation, science education, and fostering the next generation of ocean leaders.
Compensation and Benefits:
Compensation for the role includes a competitive salary dependent on years of experience, level of education obtained, as well as applicable skillset), and an excellent benefits package, including a comprehensive employer paid medical plan and CPF.
