Leidos/Gibbs and Cox is seeking a Naval Structural Designer to join our organization in Newport News, VA.

As a member of our highly collaborative multidisciplinary Ship Design team, you will be responsible for producing detailed Structural Functional 2D Drawings, Detail 3D models and 2D Assembly drawings extractions using requirements documents, ship specifications, standards and regulatory body requirements as defined in the requirements section below for Naval, Coast Guard, Commercial ships. Essential responsibilities and activities include but are not limited to:
Primary Responsibilities

Utilizing ShipConstructor to develop Structural 3D models based on Functional Drawings and/or redlines associated with change paper, develop 3D Foundations for equipment, develop Structural Assembly Drawings for Primary Structure and Foundations.

Preparing accurate and detailed designs, free form surface models and/or drawings based on concept sketches, photographs, or clearly stated functional requirements or appearances.

Working closely with our clients, naval architects and engineers to produce high quality, detail ship design products and drawings.
Basic Qualifications
-
U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.

Associates Degree or 3+ Years of relevant experience in lieu of an Associate's Degree.

3+ years of experience with Structural Design, 3D Modeling and 2D Drawing development.

Proficient in AutoCAD.

Experience working in the shipbuilding industry.

Demonstrated proficiency of drafting methods, procedures and techniques.

Experience in drafting methods, procedures and techniques.

Must be able to work some overtime as required.

Strong MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint Skills Required.

Excellent Oral, Written and Presentation Skills.

Strong Time Management and Organization Skills as an Independent Contributor.

Demonstrated Interpersonal Skills as a member of a Collaborative multidisciplinary team.

Must be able to travel and work overtime as required.

Physical: General Office Setting.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Structural Design experience on Naval and/or commercial Shipbuilding programs.

Experience with ShipConstructor.

Developing 3D models and 2D Detail Drawing Extractions in ShipConstructor.

Experience with PDF Editing Programs (Bluebeam Preferred).

Knowledge of standards and regulatory body requirements.

Knowledge of Shipyard Production/Fabrication practices.

Knowledge of Welding and associated symbols.

Pay Range:Pay Range $50,050.00 - $90,475.00
