INTECON, LLC is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Strategic Communications Strategist to support the AFWERX Communications Division. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing communication strategies that engage diverse communities, stakeholders, and industry partners. The selected candidate will play a key role in promoting the AFWERX mission and priorities, ensuring strategic messaging aligns with Air Force (AF) and Department of the Air Force (DAF) innovation objectives.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Strategic Communications Strategist will:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive strategic communication plans, aligning with AFWERX organizational priorities.
  • Conduct strategic research, analyze the communication landscape, and identify target audiences and key messaging strategies.
  • Submit communications plans and deliverables for government review and approval.
  • Implement integrated communication strategies across traditional media, social media, websites, and presentations, ensuring compliance with operational security (OPSEC) requirements.
  • Collaborate with AFWERX leadership and subject matter experts (SMEs) to develop and execute brand initiatives that enhance stakeholder engagement.
  • Facilitate internal communications within AFWERX, ensuring personnel remain informed about key initiatives, policies, and achievements.
  • Engage with government agencies, industry partners, and non-governmental organizations to enhance AFWERX’s reputation and collaborative efforts.
  • Track and evaluate communication effectiveness using analytics tools, adjusting strategies as needed based on data insights.
  • Ensure messaging consistency across all internal and external communication platforms.
  • Develop and manage relationships with cross-functional teams to maintain a cohesive and strategic approach to communication.
  • Lead messaging and content strategy for press releases, social media, internal communications, and website content.
  • Serve as the primary communications point of contact for the assigned division/program, ensuring alignment with AFWERX and SpaceWERX objectives.
  • Utilize feedback from stakeholders to continuously improve communication approaches and outreach efforts.
  • Support content development teams, including writers, designers, and multimedia specialists, ensuring alignment with AFWERX brand guidelines.
  • Stay informed about emerging trends, best practices, and technologies in strategic communications to enhance AFWERX's communication strategies.
  • Lead communications planning for AFWERX campaigns, events, and stakeholder engagements, ensuring a coordinated messaging approach.
  • Recommend and implement new tools, tactics, and processes to enhance communication efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA), Organizational Management, Strategic Management, or Program/Project Management.

Experience

  • 7+ years of experience in strategic communications, program management, or a related field, preferably within a military or government setting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing, executing, and measuring communication strategies.
  • Strong ability to extend narratives across multiple media channels, ensuring strategic messaging meets organizational communication goals.
  • Proficiency in project management, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Extensive experience in internal and external stakeholder communication, ensuring engagement across government, military, and industry partners.
  • Strong writing, presentation, and analytical skills to develop clear, compelling, and data-driven communication strategies.
  • Experience in managing digital communication campaigns, including press releases, website content, and social media strategies.
  • Ability to track, analyze, and measure communication effectiveness, using data-driven insights to refine outreach strategies.
  • Proven leadership in collaborating with internal teams, cross-functional partners, and executive stakeholders.
  • Flexibility to adapt to fast-paced environments, meeting tight deadlines in a highly dispersed, remote organization.

Certifications and Training

Preferred certifications:

  • Certified Strategic Communication Management Professional (SCMP)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) (preferred but not required)
  • Hootsuite Social Marketing Certification
  • Google Analytics Certification

Proficiency in:

  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint)
  • Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive)
  • Social media and content management platforms (Hootsuite, Sprout Social, HubSpot)
  • Data analytics and visualization tools (Google Analytics, Power BI, Tableau)

Specialized Training in:

  • Operational Security (OPSEC) and Government Communication Policies
  • Digital Media Strategy and Crisis Communications
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Messaging Frameworks

Security Clearance

Active Secret Clearance required, with the ability to obtain Top Secret (TS/SCI) if needed.
