Strategic Buyer

Triumvirate Environmental, one of the largest environmental services firms in North America, is seeking a Strategic Buyer for our Procurement team. This highly motivated, data-driven individual will be responsible for developing and implementing sourcing strategies, managing vendor relationships, and leading contract negotiations to secure the best terms for the company.

This position reports to the Director of Procurement. This role is hybrid and is based in our Somerville, MA corporate office.  

Responsibilities: 

  • Strategic Sourcing:
    • Develop and implement sourcing strategies that align with company goals.
    • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiating contracts to secure the best terms.
  • Vendor Management & Procurement:
    • Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
    • Monitor supplier performance to ensure quality, delivery, and service levels meet company standards.
    • Resolve any supplier-related issues promptly.
    • Manage the procurement process from requisition through to delivery.
    • Analyze market trends and pricing to make informed purchasing decisions.
    • Ensure timely and cost-effective purchasing while maintaining required quality standards.
  • Contract Negotiation:
    • Lead contract negotiations with suppliers, securing favorable terms and conditions.
    • Review and manage contracts, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Cost Management:
    • Continuously seek opportunities for cost reduction and value improvement.
    • Analyze total cost of ownership and implement cost-saving initiatives.
  • Reporting & Analysis:
    • Prepare and present purchasing reports to management, including spend analysis, supplier performance, and market trends.
    • Utilize procurement software and systems to maintain accurate records and data.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Work closely with internal departments such as operations, logistics, and compliance to ensure alignment on purchasing requirements.
    • Support new product development by sourcing materials and components as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management, preferably in a strategic role.
  • Strong negotiation skills with a proven track record of cost savings.
  • Excellent understanding of procurement processes and best practices.
  • Experience with ERP systems and procurement software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional certification such as CPM (Certified Purchasing Manager), CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management), or equivalent.
  • Experience in the Environmental Health & Safety or related field.
  • Familiarity with global sourcing and international trade regulations.
