Job Summary
The Strategic Account Manager is responsible for developing and implementing sales strategies to increase advertising sales for the Cablevision brands, including, Newsday, amNewYork, and across platforms, including print, digital, and mobile. This individual will focus on developing new business by providing professional, consultative-style one-on-one meetings with business decision-makers. This position will be part of the National advertising leadership team that develops, organizes, and implement new products and formats that drive sales growth. In addition, this position will be responsible for the maintenance of accounts. This position is based in Manhattan and is required to travel (locally and nationally) approximately 80% of the time.
Responsibilities

  • Meet or exceed assigned sales performance goals and objectives on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Serve customers as a single point of contact and provide cradle to grave account management in support of the customer relationship
  • Understand all aspects of Cablevision's product suite including all features and functionality, and pricing.
  • Conducts needs assessment interviews with clients to develop customer-driven solutions.
  • Provides constant feedback to Sales Management team regarding customer satisfaction, dissatisfaction, future customer needs and reactions to current offers as well as competitive situations.
  • Composes letters and proposals as required.
  • Initiates, coordinates and conducts formal sales presentations.
  • Monitors competitive media and identifies opportunities to increase market share.
  • Participates in business associations within industry category or territory.
  • Organizes and prioritizes workflow to meet goals and deadlines,
  • Responsible for ongoing tracking and maintenance of sales activities in Salesforce.com. Provides regular updates and adjustments to management as needed.
  • Scope of Authority:
  • On a regular basis, exercise administrative judgment and assume responsibility for decisions, consequences and results having an impact on people, costs and/or quality of service within functional area
  • Working Relationships:
  • Collaborate within Advertising Sales to share best practices, contacts, and market intelligence.
  • Partner with Advertising Production to execute, analyze, and optimize client campaigns
  • Partner with Finance for ad booking, credit, billing and corrections
  • Partner with Product to understand timing of editorial coverage, new sections, and new executions.


Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in advertising sales
  • Demonstrated ability to have met and exceeded revenue goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate new business.
  • Highly adept at qualifying customers and closing business
  • Highly fluent in all advertising mediums, including print, digital, and mobile
  • Demonstrated ability to develop relationships with clients.
  • Strong ability to generate, prioritize and follow-up on leads.
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills and the ability to interpret and utilize research to develop and support solution-based programs for customers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to present research and proposals clearly in person and via the phone.
  • Ability to research, prepare and deliver client proposals and presentations for sales meetings and year-end re-cap
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experienced computer skills to include the full MS office suite as well as Apple products (iPad, iPhone)
  • Strong knowledge of Salesforce.com
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, advertising, business or related preferred A minimum of 60 college credits is required.
