We are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join our team as a SALT Tax Manager or Senior Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the resources and client relations for assigned tax compliance and consulting engagements across various industries. This role requires a proactive approach to leading ongoing initiatives within the department, as well as providing vital support to other business partners in business development activities.
As a SALT Tax Manager or Senior Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the effective planning and execution of client engagements. You will communicate with clients to establish timelines, schedule staff, oversee and supervise staff performance, and conduct thorough technical reviews of tax returns and work papers to prevent issues from being missed. Additionally, you will serve as a technical resource for managers, seniors, and associates, conducting sophisticated tax research and providing consulting services in your area of specialization. Your efforts will contribute to achieving our practice development and firm growth strategies, as well as identifying new opportunities for both new and existing clients.
Some essential functions of the job are but not limited to :
• Manage large state income tax compliance projects and identify tax savings opportunities and areas of risk.
• Advise clients on state filing positions and requirements.
• Bring you passion for people development and coach, train and mentor state and local tax staff as well as staff in other practice groups.
• Collaborate with passionate colleagues to plan, supervise, and execute holistic approaches to complex individual and commercial state tax issues.
• Work closely with partners, principals, senior managers, managers, seniors, and staff in other practice groups to integrate practice development skills into a team approach to client service and new business development.
• Serve as a technical resource for Managers, Seniors, and Associates, as well as clients, in area of specialization and expertise; identify new technical issues in specialty area and take initiative to communicate with others on staff to increase awareness and understanding of the issue(s).
• Gain experience delivering state and local tax advisory services, including refund reviews, nexus studies, taxability matrices, voluntary disclosures, tax minimization studies, and assisting with business development opportunities.
Manager Level Education & Experience: Bachelors’ degree in accounting or finance or related field or a combination of education and directly related work experience. Masters Degree in Taxation or JD preferred. 6+ years' prior experience in a public accounting or accounting environment and CPA or LLM preferred. Experience in income tax compliance required.
Manager Level Salary Range: $106,162 minimum to $159,243 maximum salary range
Senior Manager Level Education & Experience: Bachelor degree in accounting, or finance, or related field or a combination of education and directly related work experience; CPA or CMI, and Masters in Taxation or LLM preferred. 7-10 years of progressive state and local tax consulting and/or compliance experience in public accounting or a combination of corporate and public accounting experience. Demonstrated successful experience as a supervisor.
Senior Manager Level Salary Range: $138,877 minimum to $222,203 maximum salary range
