About Us:
We're on a mission to make it possible for every person, team, and company to be able to tailor their software to solve any problem and take on any challenge. Computers may be our most powerful tools, but most of us can't build or modify the software we use on them every day. At Notion, we want to change this with focus, design, and craft.
We've been working on this together since 2016, and have customers like Pixar, Mitsubishi, Figma, Plaid, Match Group, and thousands more on this journey with us. Today, we're growing fast and excited for new teammates to join us who are the best at what they do. We're passionate about building a company as diverse and creative as the millions of people Notion reaches worldwide.
About The Role:
As Startup Events & Community Manager (AMER), you'll drive Notion's growth and brand awareness in the startup ecosystem through strategic event programming across North America. You'll create engaging events and experiences for our startup customers, prospects, and partners. Reporting to the Notion for Startups Lead, you'll work closely with the startups team and cross-functional partners to create impactful experiences that establish Notion as the essential tool for early-stage companies.
This is a contractor role with a 6-month term (potential to extend), requiring a minimum of 20 hours/week. Candidates must be based in San Francisco or New York City and able to travel within the US.
What You'll Achieve:
- Design and execute a comprehensive events strategy, including in-person events across major US startup hubs and virtual programming to reach a broader audience.
- Own end-to-end planning, execution, and measurement of all Notion startup events in North America.
- Manage all event logistics, production, venue sourcing, budget tracking, marketing campaigns, and audience acquisition.
- Create events and experiences that bring the Notion brand and product to life, with a customer-first approach.
- Build and nurture relationships with startup ecosystem partners to create authentic, value-driven event experiences.
- Measure and optimize event impact using data-driven insights and community feedback.
Skills You'll Need to Bring:
- 3+ years of experience in startup community building and events production and management.
- Proven track record of creating and executing successful tech events, both virtual and in-person.
- A passion for events and community building—you understand the purpose of various event types, from community to corporate, and take pride in the details that transform good events into great ones.
- Excellence in event planning, from concept to execution, with strong attention to detail and stakeholder management.
- Data-driven approach to measuring event success and community engagement.
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills.
Nice to Haves:
- Experience as a startup founder, early employee at a high-growth startup, or in a platform role at a VC fund.
- Strong network within the startup ecosystem, including relationships with founders, VCs, and community leaders.
- Power user and advocate of Notion.
