We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our team. The goal of a Staff Software Engineer at Wisk is to ensure that avionics software is developed per industry standards for FAA certification. You will be part of the Avionics Battery Management System (BMS) Software team that develops embedded airborne software.
Due to the nature of the work required for this position, this is an onsite opportunity. You will be required to work from our Mountain View, CA, USA office.
In this role, you will develop embedded airborne software per DO-178C and its supplements to build the first fully autonomous all-electric aircraft that performs and operates safely in an urban air-mobility environment. In support of this goal, you will be part of the Avionics BMS Software team that develops requirements, design, and code via traditional hand written code or utilize the MathWorks products for model generated code. Your mission is to work with peers to create certifiable embedded airborne software.
What you will do:
- As part of the Avionics organization, and deployed in the BMS Software team you will act as a Staff Software Engineer, in a software focal capacity, for a novel type of aircraft development targeting the autonomous UAM market.
- You will take part in the development of embedded airborne software per DO-178C and its supplements with the full life cycle processes and activities.
- You will help support problem solving activities through development of software and integration within the BMS and other systems.
- In some areas, you will be working closely with, but not limited to, Software Engineers from multiple Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), Systems Engineers, suppliers, contractors, Software Certification.
- You will plan and execute mentorship programs with junior Software Engineers.
Requirements:
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Electronics, or relevant engineering discipline. Typically a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 6 years of experience with a Master's degree, or 3 years of experience with a PhD’s degree.
- You have worked on various aerospace projects governed by DO-178C and its supplements.
- You have hands-on experience with developing software requirements, design, code and integration, plus solving complex avionics problems.
- You have a strong and applied knowledge of complex electronics for safety critical systems.
- You have 2+ years of experience with any of the MathWorks Model-Based Development tools, i.e., MATLAB/Simulink - Requirements, Check, Coverage, Code Inspector, Test, Report Generator and/or Polyspace Bug Finder, Coder Prover.
- You have a strong and applied understanding of RTOS concepts and concurrent software design.
- You are a highly motivated, self starting individual with strong communication skills and a positive team player.
- This role will require 20% of travel; varies based on peaks and valleys of the project.
