We’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join the Operating systems team at Snap Inc!

What you’ll do:

  • Lead and Contribute to Design: Lead or significantly contribute to the design and architecture of system software and operating systems for both prototype and shipping consumer products.

  • Develop Core OS components: Design, implement and maintain software components at all layers of the Operating System including the kernel, synchronization primitives, I/O subsystems and more.

  • Collaborate and Review: Actively participate in design reviews, code review with peers and stakeholders to ensure high quality, reliable solutions.

  • Troubleshoot and Debug: Triage complex product or system issues, analyze root causes and develop effective solutions.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of operating systems principles, Inter-process communication, computer system architecture, microprocessor /microcontroller fundamentals (caches, buses, memory controllers, DMA, etc.)

  • Proven experience with full software Development process skills including: source control, bug tracking, and design documentation

  • Broad understanding of audio/video domain fundamentals, connectivity, system architecture and frameworks.

  • Strong analytical and software debugging skills

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant technical field such as computer science or electrical engineering or equivalent years of experience

  • 6+ years of experience with system software development

  • 5+ years of experience developing SW for audio/video frameworks or WLAN/cellular

  • Technical leadership experience with specialization in at least one of the following areas: Audio/Video or WLAN/BT

  • Proficiency in programming C and C++ on Linux

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience of developing Operating Systems including Inter-process communication and application framework

  • 10+ years of experience in leading the development of SW for Audio/Video or WLAN/ BT protocols

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Compensation

In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The starting pay may be negotiable within the salary range for the position. These pay zones may be modified in the future.

Zone A (CA, WA, NYC):

The base salary range for this position is $229,000-$343,000 annually.


 

Zone B:

The base salary range for this position is $218,000-$326,000 annually.

Zone C:

The base salary range for this position is $195,000-$292,000 annually.

This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
